Good hotel which justifies its five star rating. Not quite sure why it's so low down on tripadvisor. Not cheap... but worth it. Good gym, nice staff, nice rooms, nice pool, decent food. Worth staying here!

I stayed at the Lao Plaza Hotel for a few nights, and overall, had a good experience. The staff were pleasant. The rooms could have been a little bigger, but they were well kept. The breakfast was tasty and had a good range. Overall, it was a good time and I would recommend.

I stayed at the Lao Plaza Hotel for three nights and found the facilities quite satisfying. The staff was quick to attend to our requirements and was extremely polite and well mannered. I found the rooms a bit small, but they were very neat and tidy and offered a good night’s sleep. I liked their buffet breakfast that was sumptuous with good variety. Moreover, I am extremely thankful to these people for the free shuttle service that they offer from the airport, as it was of immense help to me.

If you're looking for the prestige hotel in Vientiane, none compares with the Lao Plaza. Its grand design features elegant wood carving moldings throughout, an expansive lobby with adjoining well appointed dining areas, highly selective gifts shops, a swimmable pool (not just a gesture at one), a full spa, and a full service staff throughout that is professional, cordial, and capable. A highly recommended five star experience at a modest price.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago as part of a week in Laos. As it was our introduction to Laos it was a safe place to stay & investigate Vientiane. The staff tried really hard to please but our room was average. We paid extra money to have a plaza room - which was only giving you access to their internet. What we weren't told is that & it would have been a lot cheaper just to pay for the internet as an add on rather than as part of the room. It was at least double the cost. The comments about the renovation work is true & it can be really annoying if you wanted to laze around the room or the pool between 8 & 5. We were woken up by jackhammering at 8.20am one morning. Not happy! I think customers should be given a large reduction in room rates to compensate for the noise. If not, then you should look elsewhere. As an addendum - if you have the choice - spend more time in Luang Prabang.....

Reviewed 7 April 2013 via mobile

I stayed here in early April and at the time there were major renovations going on so every day from 8am to 5pm there was the constant sound of jack hammers and saws. There was no warning of this prior to checking in and no apology. We asked for a double bed when checking in but when shown to our room there were two single beds. After complaining and asking for a new room we had to wait 3 hours until we were moved. The next morning the shower was not working and after once again complaining it was finally repaired 1 hour later. Hence our opinion of this hotel is very low and I would strongly suggest anybody planning on staying here to think twice. I am sure you can find a far better hotel for the same price.
