“Great location, great vibe”
Reviewed 7 January 2013

The Travellers House is located right by the river so it is extremely convenient to get around. The room was big and clean, with lockers provided under your bed (not the most secure since anybody can just pull up your mattress and see what you have under, but this appears common in Laos). There was only one toilet per floor which was not enough - there is a larger bathroom on the first floor beside the reception desk, but it's a little troublesome to have to climb up and down just to use the bathroom.

There is a nice common area downstairs with a pool table, and the happy hour every night (free Lao whiskey) makes for a great atmosphere for socialising. A note though, that their beers seem a little expensive compared to what you can get at the convenience store around the corner.

They also provide a decent breakfast that is included in the room rate (bread with sausages/eggs), and fruit juice.

Overall, a good place to stay if you want to meet people.

Moved here from another hostel in Vientiane and found it to be much better. The staff are so friendly and great for recommending places to see and to eat at. Rent bicycles for 10 000kip per day from them and cycle to the herbal sauna out of town! Clean dorms and bathrooms, good wi-fi, good a/c and great location. Met great people here too!

Travellers House was what made my stay in Vientiane. It is perfectly located near the river, it has a great vibe, good quality wifi, very helpful and friendly staff. The staff very quickly and calmly helped me recover my bag that I had lost at the airport.

The owner is a very happy and helpful man. He is always willing to answer questions and when necessary he would even take you personnally to the airport. Rooms are clean, wifi and a large breakfast is included in the price of only 40.000 kip per night for a dorm. If you prefer more silence and privacy even private rooms are available for a reasonable price. Besides, there is a happy hour with free whiskey for everyone staying at the hostel. Even though you are not staying it is worth it to come by for socializing with people from all internationalities and have a Beerlao with them while sharing travellers anekdotes.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. Good WiFi+TV was working really well and had HBO etc. Location perfect in the center and near nice restaurants. There's lot of backpackers and young people around so it's easy to meet new people. Staff is nice and relaxed also. Would go again here.

at 40000kip you can get a 14-16 bed mix dorm with fan & aircon. they provide really good breakfast and free bottle water any time of the day which was very essential. they also rent out bicycle for the whole day at 10000kip. location was great..near a convenient store and night market is just a walk away. wifi connection could have been a lot better, even when i was near the router it was as slow. on the second & third level they only have one bathroom/toilet catering to approx 32pax per level but there are more on the ground level if you don't mind going up/down the stairs. the strange thing is..their toilet and bathroom doors do not have locks. so it was really uncomfortable to lookout for the door every few seconds just so no one opens the door and see you showering. it would have been perfect if they could install locks to it.

This place has clean rooms with a basic standard. Staff is nice and flexible, and a basic breakfast is even included in the price. In evenings it is a good atmosphere, but music can be a bit loud if you like it nice and quiet.
