This is a most welcoming hotel with a real family feel about it. It has a most accommodating manageress (Noy) who speaks excellent English. The room I had was relatively small, but more than adequate. AC works well and the whole hotel is very quiet and peaceful. Remember, I was there in the low season. Breakfast is a combination of a la carte and buffet. Eat and drink as much as you like. Delicious food served by efficient and polite staff members. Perhaps the one drawback is that it is a good 15-minute walk to the CBD.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- As Vientiane changes, so does our villa. Originally built as a private residence for a French family in the 1960s, the site became a school with up to 500 children in 1992 before it was turned into a hotel at the beginning of this century. Despite the changes, our guests still can feel the privacy and comforts of home in each corner of the hotel. The four original buildings host 23 newly designed rooms and are surrounded by a green and cozy garden with seats under large shady trees. The Mandala Boutique Hotel is located in a small side road away from the busy streets of Vientiane, but within walking distance to the city center and just a 15-minute drive from the airport. ... more less
