“Nice enough Hotel with a few minor flaws.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2012

First the flaws. The bath and shower combination is poorly designed. Water from the shower flows to the back of the bath, from where it then floods the floor. Great care has to be undertaken. Lack of English and inconsistencies in the room manual led to minor inconvenience. Housekeeping was very good. The room was comfortableand large. Featured arm chair and two seater with an ottoman. Balcony was availalble but the air con exhaust made it a short term option. Breakfast was O.K. Staff were all very good, apart from small fault above.

Room Tip: I had the second level of room.

The hotel reminds me of colonial heritage hotels with its wooden floors and old-style building. What's great about Best Western though is its proximity to a shopping, eating and tourist spots. The staff is great, always w/ a ready smile and a good morning. We walked around the riverside and enjoyed bargaining in the Night Market. There were all types of restaurants in the area from French dining to delicious yet inexpensive street food. You'll be spoiled for choice. You can walk to most of the spots or take a tuk-tuk to COPE, the Wats and tourist spots. We truly enjoyed Vientiane and looked forward to going back to the comforts of Best Western Vientiane.

This is a lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The room was large and had excellent wifi, good tv, fridge, etc.

The hotel had good facilities, though the pool was out of service while we were there. Which was part of the reason we booked it. It said it was only closed for a week, so it's sounds like we were unluck.

The hotel is expensive for Loas, but Vietianne is significantly more expensive than other places in Loas, so it wasn't really that bad.

It's in a good location near the night market, river and many restaurants.

Stayed in here for 2 nights, was expensive but needed a nice room after a few weeks in average places. Hotel room was bright spacious and had excellent air con. Lovely TV and excellent in room wifi. Location was excellent just by the river. Nice touch we where delivered a basket of fruit during the day. Only fault was booked this hotel as it had a pool and on arrival we where advised the pool was closed for repair work for a week, I thought this was very bad that we where not notified when we booked, we only booked on the day of arrival

Nothing was really outstanding about the hotel. It has a good location, but Vientiane is very small so that should not be a deciding factor. Most things were adequate (the room is a good size, the parquet floor is much better than carpet, the bathroom is spacious, it is nice to have a safe in the room), some things can be tolerated if you make leeway for them (the ubiquitous ants in the bathroom, the noisy old aircon that isn't really up to the job of knocking out the heavy musty-ish feeling of the air but does an okay job of cooling, the old couch that you wouldn't actually want to sit on for any length of time, the curtains that, when you open them, have the oily feeling of rarely-cleaned fabric, the shaky but well-meaning English at reception), but what really disappointed me was the poor quality of the mattress which made for an uncomfortable sleep. The beds aren't the worst I've come across and if you're not sensitive you should have no problem, but for the price this hotel charges relative to others in the city, I expected more comfort. Overall, the hotel is adequate but somewhat overpriced.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the street as the back ones have a terrible view.

Was looking forward to staying here as had paid a bit more due to the fact it had a pool, as days in Vientiane are hot and dusty, arrived to find that the pool was closed for maintenance, this was not stated on website so was not very impressed, didnt push it though as turned out it was horrible weather. The hotel itself was very lovely with balconies looking out onto the street and a well reputed restaurant on the ground floor. Rooms were very spacious with sofa area, desk area, safe, mini bar, hairdryer, and shower over bath. Darkened out curtains also kept any street noise and sunlight out first thing in morning. Buffet bb was choice of continental, american or asian and hit the spot. Hotel was frequented mainly with asian business men. On arrival you get free welcome drink and during our stay had a small fruit plate sent to our room, these little things count. All in all good stay, im sure there is better in VTE but got good enough rate on room through Agoda so was happy enough.

We chose this hotel because it had a pool (most do not have) and wanted to spend time after our hot days exploring the area. And because it was a brand name. Looking at their photos pool was OK so we decided to book. Unfortunately, the pool furniture in the photos does not exist!!. The one remaining pool chair was old and rotten. After asking if there were more chair/lounges they produced mini lounges not made to fit a westerner!!
The rooms were Ok and clean. The breakfast was quite a disappointment (stale bread and pastries and really a poor selection and quality)
As we had prepaid via Agoda we did not complain as we were only there for 3 nights and decided to eat breakfast out. The staff tried but just did not try hard enough when we asked for assistance. Everyday we just saw many staff huddled around computers watching movie rather than taking care of guests!!
We went looking around the area and found much nicer hotels and half the cost so look around before deciding on this place!

Room Tip: Ask for a front room with balcony, otherwise the back rooms face into other buildings and quite drea...
