It was our first time to Laos, Vientiane! We were surprised with its nature and its beauty. The airport service provided by the hotel was great. The staff at the Don Chan Place always had a ready to go smile on their face every day , every morning. The selection of food was limited, a lot of bakery products , little Chinese food, some salads, and 3-4 fruit selection. The quality of food we were very happy with, especially the Indian section with roti and mutton curry. The staff were always advicing and helping us out with questions that we had , being our first time there. The swimming pool was nice, but the water very cold. The gym is small, but fine to do a few workouts. The hotel is located 10 min from the town it self, you can book the shuttle bus an hour before , and they will drop you off. We enjoyed the cycle ride, that was rented out for free at the hotel. We had time of our life!!!

I love Laos and Don Chan was suppose to be the best in Laos. The hotel really need renovation because all the furniture and electronic is so out of date. I really hope they will do something about this because the place have so much potential.

Room Tip: Hope the hotel update their rooms for next visit

I am not really reviewing the don chan hotel on the bassis that its a "5" star hotel for the fact in my humble opinion is we did not pay 5 star price. the servis we recieved was very good, the room was very good and very clean, dinning room evening meals were very good (breakfast was a bit ropy, but not to bad) and we found the staff to be vey helpfull and smiley people. vientiane itself is such a lovely place for vacation time, so much to see and do here we did not spend a lot of time in the hotel, but we would stay again so it must be doing something right.

Not the best of experiences I had so far, especially considering the services one would expect from a Hotel that boasts of a 5 Star rating. Huge bulky furniture, out dated wall papers, considerably far from the Downtown central areas and the room service needs an immediate chin-up. I was having trouble connecting to the Hotel Wi-Fi and this guy, who claimed to be a system Engineer, almost screwed up my laptop settings, trying in vain to get the Wi-Fi connectivity working. I finally intervened and got it mended, just to find that the Wi-Fi speed was horrible anyways. The staff did not follow English and it wasn’t easy to communicate with them, which is why they messed with the airport cab that I had ordered. On a sunnier side, the breakfast buffet was impressive and had a lot of options to choose from.

We were told the hotel services improved after the change of the ownership. Now the new management team is trying to improve in every aspects of the hotel operations. The results obviously is still mixed. One the hardware side, the room is small and bathroom is smaller. The desk, bed, and other furniture in the room are getting old and probably soon need to be replace. The elevator malfunctioned a lot. The wifi is extremely slow and unreliable. On the software side, the staff were trying to be friendly but they couldn't really help much giving the non-service oriented "policies". Overall there are a lot need to be done and let's wish the new management good luck.

Stayed a night. Luxurious and overall comfortable but not quite deserving of a 5 star rating it claims. Asked for a little ice and gave me a bucket of ice and charged me 24000 kips for it. Other hotels would have provided it as a service. Booked the airport shuttle and it didn't show up. They had to scramble a table staff to drive one of the hotel van which fortunately was available for us. Otherwise, the room amenities was adequate. Rate it 6.5 out of 10.

Not as fancy as i expected.
The furniture and wall paper of the room were a little bit shaggy.
And the location was a little far from the traveler's area and down town.
But they had shuttle service and we had little problem with that.
And the swimming pool was not under the sun.. it was under a roof and shade was on it.
But the personnel was kind and 3nights stay at this hotel was OK.
