Small noodle shops are a dime a dozen in Laos, and often there is not much to distinguish one from the other. 'Delicious Noodle' (Quan Banh Canh Ngon) is a positive exception. The shop looks unassuming and similar to every other small eatery (metal tables, small plastic chairs, no decoration whatsoever), but the quality of the noodles is what sets it apart. They serve the thick white kind of noodles (hand-made?) with chicken or beef, in a delicious broth, for only 8,000 kip (about $1) a bowl. The woman who runs the place is friendly and, surprisingly, even speaks some English. When I was done she asked me: "You come back tomorrow?". I left with a smile on my face.
The place is a bit outside of the tourist center, and not the easiest to find. Coming from Saylom Road, cross Khun Bu Lom Road and walk a few paces to the right. The eatery is located to the immediate right of a Fujifilm print shop with a green front.
