The Superior is large , comfortable with a king bed, separate bath and shower and nice appointments.
The buffet breakfast is very good and personnel are professional and attentive.

Two better than average restaurants in the hotel and a central location adds to the desirability of this hotel.

Room Tip: Superior room is really that. Room #301 is the best choice.

This is a modern, well run, well maintained 5 star hotel in a city that has much to offer but is not deep in tourist facilities. The staff is trained to a high western standard and most speak excellent English! The rooms are large and clean with modern bathrooms. We had a room with a double bed "(matrimonial") - a type of bed that is often unavailable in Mongolia. As others have mentioned the breakfast buffet is outstanding with excellent breads. Service in the restaurant for dinner was slow but the menu choices are extensive and the food is very good. While it is not located in the city center, it is a short taxi ride to city center and cabs are inexpensive. There is a large (for UB) super market across the street which is very convenient. We have been told that there other hotels in UB which are fancier (and more expensive) but that none of them is as well run.

A real gem in an otherwise drab grey city. The staff were tremendously accommodating and nothing seemed to be a hassle. The choice of dining was quite a surprise and all the venues seemed to be high standard. The rooms are large and comfortable. I found myself on a quiet side of the building but I don't know if every room was as quiet. Well located, which is useful as traffic in the city is far heavier than the street design allowed for. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The higher you go the better the view.

This is a surprisingly nice hotel in a town that is rather dingy... rooms are clean and comfy. The toilet is worth going for all on its own! it shoots water at you then air to dry you off...rather disconcerting. The restaurant was good although a little formal and the breakfast was excellent. the staff were very helpful and courteous. I would definitely recommend.

It's a great hotel in Ulaanbataar. We stayed here after two weeks in ger camps, and to have a bath and a Japanese toilet was bliss. Breakfast was a feast of choice, and very tasty.

Location-wise it's about equal distance from the centre as the Ramada is (where we had stayed prior to our ger adventure), but somehow it feels further out than the Ramada. Also it doesn't match the Ramada when it comes to fantastic views of the city, from the 17th floor bar/terrace or the rooms.

We stayed off and on in this hotel, courtesy of our Overseas Adventuure Travel group with which we travelled, during our stay in Mongolia. We were in and out of the hotel in between trips to various parts of the countryside, and always looked forward to our return. The rooms were excellent, although inexplicably some of the showers had no lip to contain water leading to some wet bathroom floors. Oh well. Breakfasts great. Friendly, courteous staff, some of whom actually remembered us between stays. Easy bus ride to the center of town. Would stay here again if again in UB

The Kempinski Hotel Khan Palace is a very nice hotel, offering clean and well-designed rooms. The breakfast buffet, included in the room price, was simply excellent, with a great selection of food, although the service could be slightly faster (it took me for example 15 minutes to get Japanese ramen which were proposed at the buffet).
The staff is effective, when no hot water was available in the city one evening, measures were taken to get an alternative source of hot water within 30 minutes. Good wifi available everywhere.
So while this is an excellent choice, be simply aware that it is outside the city center, about 20 minutes by foot (taxis and direct bus lines are an excellent and cheap option).
