I'm finishing a two night award stay at the Holiday Inn Ulaanbaatar. This is a brand new property. I arrived at 7 am after a redeye flight from Moscow. I thought I would have to leave my bags and check in later, but when I arrived I was greeted with, "Hello Mr. X. We've been expecting you!". That's what I want to hear. And I wish every hotel had that much concern for each guest. My room on the 9th floor is spacious and beautifully designed in natural colors. The bathroom design in brown is one of the best I've seen at a hotel and one I would like to replicate at my own house. From my room I could see both the city and the ger district, modern and traditional. The hotel was convenient for exploring the city, and there are plenty of restaurants, a supermarket, and exchange bank near the hotel. Overall, an excellent stay. The staff were all genuinely polite and helpful. This is the best Holiday Inn I've stayed at in years. Highly recommended.

The Holiday Inn Ulaanbaatar is a newly-opened hotel in the Mongolian capital close to some tourist attractions and about 10 minutes walk to the State Department Store. The rooms are spacious and minimalistic, in keeping with the general Holiday Inn theme. Everything about the room was very new which was a plus. What I particularly loved about the room was the LCD TV which had quite a lot of nifty features including screen mirroring - I stayed in another luxury hotel in Ulaanbaatar and they didn't even have this! As of this writing, the fitness centre and the club lounge were still being finished but I was told these would be opening soon. The all-day dining restaurant, Open Lobby, follows IHG's newest dining concept. Breakfast is simple but in line with Holiday Inn - you get your cereals, fruits, a number of hot items such as bacon, sausages, beans, etc as well as pastries. If you need room service, the food options feature an array of western dishes and are very reasonably priced.
The front desk is a valuable source of information regarding transport options in the city as well as to the surrounding areas.
Overall, I enjoyed my time at the Holiday Inn Ulaanbaatar. The staff members were very friendly, especially the ones by the lobby!

Holiday inn should train staff and check services before operating a new building. They don't know anything about Holiday inn concept. I would prefer to stay in any 2 star hotel instead next time. You get almost nothing in breakfast. Only a few people from staff trained. The only good thing is rooms.
