I am not a golf player so I just went with some friends to have some drinks and dinner. The atmosphere is nice and the view with all the green around you is relaxing and cool. The food is ok, nothing special but tasty. The service is not so great, we had to ask for the waiter many times and it was strange as they were few just hanging around and ignoring us ......
This place needs good renovation and better service. It is daily quiet busy so I guess that's why they haven't done anything yet. The inside bar is really nice and reminds of a typical British pub/bar.
I recommend this place if you need a cool place to relax and have some chat with your friends, but keep in mind that you have to go there with someone who is a member to the club.

Thank Olga V

The club gives you an insight into the colonial past of the Island. The clubhouse offers great views over the golf course with some great meals at great prices. The staff has the typical Sri Lankan friendliness. The course itself is quirky in it's design but really nice to play. You share the fairways with many monitor lizards as the course weaves through parts of the city. Another element is the railway track that runs through the property. A great way to sped a relaxing day!

Much of Sri Lanka still has remnants of their colonial past. They have preserved it far better than we have in India. The RCGC of which I have been a member for the past 10 years is one such place. The course is not as perfect as it should be with the fairways and greens needing attention at times. But it's picturesque and you are likely to encounter water birds and monitor lizards as part of the scenery.

The 'browsing and sluicing' to borrow a Wodehouse phrase is above reproach. The snacks are typically clubby with the chilly cheese toast and the french fries being all time favourites. The rest of the food is great too and the beer is always nicely chilled.

What more can one expect from one of the great colonial clubs of the region!

we thought it was quite pricey for the condition of the course, but felt thankful to be able to get a tee time and play when it is such a busy course. Sri Lanka needs more courses!

We were lucky enough to be taken here for lunch. Sitting on the broad varanda in the gently fanned shade gazing across the green fairwaiys of what we are told is the third oldest golf club in the world.
Considering it is in the heart of such a bustling city, it is suprisingly tranquil oasis of green and calm.
The service is attentive but not oppressive and the food delicious and surprisngly good value.
Oh yes, the birds eye topping one of the dishes on the menu? Dont worry, its what they have called poached eggs here since the days of colonialism.
