“Relaxing stay”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

I only spent one night in The Kingsbury Hotel but could warmly recommend it even for a longer stay. First, the location in the heart of the center of Colombo was excellent. The room was spacious and spotless clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious and of standard of one in a five star hotel. The personel was extremely friendly and professional. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Stay in this hotel was really a nice experience.

A very well located hotel. Not only does it offer a spectacular view of the ocean and the port, it also has a lot of buzz in the area. With the Dutch Hospital area being a stones throw away and the charming promenade at the front. The rooms are nice, spacious, with good beds and a good shower. Take the ones on the higher floors on the ocean side to enjoy the view. Breakfast is sumptuous with something for everyone. Mixed cuisines, and well laid out. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The Sky Lounge on the top floor is electrifying and has interesting cocktails. Overall its definitely an option in Colombo for a luxurious stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors, non-smoking facing the ocean

Ask for the sea facing rooms. Nice cozy..lavish breakfast spread and stylish staff..liked the all white cowboys handling gates. Next door neighbor is the president of Sri Lanka. Do visit Pinnawala Elephant orphanage!

Room Tip: Sea Facing rooms and higher floors...Beer is on the house..try Lion beer!!

A very well refurbished hotel at Colombo's seafront, suitable for important meetings (lots of rude education chinese - China is the "brother" of Sri Lanka, not India...), large commom areas and suitable rooms (it's necessary to know that, as the hotel is built perpendicular to the sea font, the rooms with the best view are the closer that sea front nad higher, because, if not, you see only the port cranesor the auto park from a government building... Our friends were booked at a similar room but friendly the hotel staff change them to a better one. The advertising of the pool is wrong because now the sea can't be seen directly, as there is a huge hill of rocks just in front (Colombo's is building a new financial and tourism area, between the hotel and the port, gaining to the Indian sea...).

Room Tip: Choose higher rooms and closer to seafront (the hotel is built perpendicular to the sea and has room...

This hotel's location is beautifully located at the beach as well the uptown area (you get the best of both world's) Loved the whole Victorian white theme to the hotel. The hotel makes you feel very comfortable as soon as you enter the hotel with awesome service right from the doormen to the chefs and the housekeeping. They spoil you terribly! that you don't feel like going back home... The wonderful spread of breakfast every morning is one of the reason I woke up early each day!. Incase your at the hotel in the evenings you should try their High Tea experience, And when your tired and just want to relax try the Skylouge for soothing music and drink. Well the prices at this hotel are a bit steep.... but you get what you pay for. There is a construction at the side of the hotel which can be a sore to the eye , I would suggest you could speak to the reception and may be they could help you get a better room .A note for the ladies the toiletries are amazing and are from Bvlgari !!!! Incase you need to try something different pop in a the Dutch Hospital which is a minute walk from the hotel where you can find places to shop Restaurants with amazing food and music, Spa's.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the main road as well the beach

The Kingsbury is located in a great spot in Colombo, right at the edge of the water. The World Trade Centre is around the corner. The railway station is close by too if you pl You can enjoy soothing views of the ocean depending on which room you occupy. The room was comfortable and the services such as in room dining etc. were efficient. There is a large spread at breakfast with the usual continental, and traditional Sri Lankan fare. I recommend the island's two traditional breakfast porridges- Kola Kanda and Korakan. Delicious, healthy. The new hotspot of The Dutch Hospital is next door- eateries, cafes and boutiques under one roof. A great place to hangout at. From our room we had a beautiful view of the water and the roads below, leading out into the city. Just a few yards out of the hotel, is a roundabout. Here you can glimpse the resident Pelicans who have claimed the tall lamp post at its centre as there own, as they fish and watch the city bustle below. Commuting is easy with the hotels travel services. Or you can engage a tuk tuk- we found an enthusiastic young chap who ferried us around for about 5000 LKR per day (8 to10 hours). It was a good and memorable stay.

Room Tip: Pick the rooms facing the water - they may be towards the South and the West.

This hotel has fantastically luxurious rooms and is spacious and is luxurious throughout. I was given a sea view room, which was exciting, but i had more view of the top of a roof and then the sea! I didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. The pool area is not quite as the photo's show, the infinity edge of the pool overlooks a road and the side of the pool opposite the hotel looks over a car park! There was a lot of building work going on during the day which was very noisy by the pool, not a relaxing atmosphere you may be looking for. The location is good for looking around the older area of the city.
