this place promised much in the write-ups but why I wonder? It was dark inside and full of just middle class sri lankan business men, needs a refurb badly.

“A nook for cricket lovers”
Reviewed 13 February 2013

On one level, that is the cricket level, I think this place is awesome. Hey, I'm a cricket lover, so what can I say! You can't help but find the "cool" in all the cricket memorabilia (signs, photos, souvenirs, signed clothing, bats etc) scattered throughout the colonial villa. The menu itself is an eye opener. Just think of your favourite cricketers and you'll find their name attached to a dish on the menu. I've tried food named after Boycott, Tendulkar, Botham and others. There are also small tv screens throughout so you can enjoy.... Yep, you got it - Cricket (past or present, depending on what matches are being televised)... While you eat and drink.

However, if you're not a cricket lover, then this place is just okay. The reason is because the food is average in taste and quality. The prices are a little steep. You can definitely get better food for the same price at one of the hotels or restaurants in Colombo.

The service is okay too. Nothing special to report here.

Surprisingly, the atmosphere int that lively or friendly. The few times I've visited it's been quiet and everyone kind of keeps to themselves. The outside seating or garden probably offers a nicer setting than inside, however, if it's your first visit, make sure you check out the whole place.

I will visit again, probably more for the cricket feel, and if I want to catch a match while meeting up with friends.

If your a cricket fan, then it would be a disaster not to go here. They have some cricket memorabilia that will amaze you. Lovely food too. Each item is named after some famous players. Superb service, location and amazing food

“Nice villa, but poor food and service”
Reviewed 17 September 2012

People will keep coming to Cricket Club because you can sit out and have a beer in a garden beside a lovely colonial villa. And there is nowhere else in the centre of Colmobo you can do this.

But you do this at a price. The food and drinks are hugely expensive by local standards. The food is mediocre at best. The service is often painfully slow and surly.

If you are visiting Colombo, don't go out of your way to come here.

“Great for a few beers and old fashioned pub atmosphere/cricket memorabilia but mostly average food.”
Reviewed 14 December 2011

Great place for a few beers with old fashioned pub atmosphere surrounded by lots of cricket memorabilia. Also good to catch sports events on screen over beers but screen sizes are a bit small (32") and the sound could be better. Food menu looks interesting but is largely of average quality, though the pot pies are pretty good. Easily accessible but a bit steap by Sri Lankan price standards. The place is popular among expats.
