“Great rooms, even better food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

The rooms at Lake Lodge are clean, modern, nicely fitted out, and the bathrooms are spacious and modern with a great shower. The staff at Lake Lodge were excellent, though the real standout was the food. We ate dinner at their restaurant the first night and had the Sri Lankan breakfast both mornings and it was all fabulous. The array of curries and condiments provided with both the dinner and breakfasts were outstanding, possibly the best Sri Lankan we had during out time in the country.

Stayed here with my friend towards the end of our holiday and it was perfect! Nice, large, cool rooms, monsoon shower, good food and very friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location to visit the sights - just a cheap tuk tuk ride away from most things, and yet wonderfully peaceful. Would highly recommend it and would definitely return myself.

We recently stayed at Lake Lodge and had a great experience. The hotel is relatively new and is very well kept. The location is fantastic very close to the centre of the city and is just a small tuk-tuk ride from the sights.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Most importantly though, the rooms are quite with no street noise and the air con works very well!

Crisp and Clean with much needed strong A/C. The rooms were sparse in a modern manner. I only had breakfast there and it was fresh, simple and lovely. Conveniently walkable or an inexpensive tuk tuk. The staff was very helpful.

I arrived in Colombo with a plan to see as much of the country as possible over the next 2 weeks with a vague idea for an itinerary. I spoke with a few travel bureaus and agents around town to get pricing and possible itineraries.

Simultaneously the staff at Lake Lodge arranged for me to meet with a drivers agent they work with, who turned out to be the best option, even when paying a fee to the agent.

Sri Lanka is not a country easy to traverse by train or bus, so drivers are the best bet. Colombo is not filled with travel agents ready to help you explore, so it was really helpful to have such accommodating staff at Lake Lodge.

Lake lodge is a quiet haven in manic Colombo. Down a quiet private road and gated for security! Not that it is needed the area is safe.

Right by the lake. Feels very relaxed even though the city is manic. Walking distance to Gangaramaya Temple. Cheaply available Tuk Tuk.

Stayed in a beautiful first floor room. Spacious. Lovely shower.

Staff lovely and kind. Food great! Excellent breakfast!

Recommend!

We consider ourselves lucky to have found this hotel for our three-night stay. And wise to ignore those who said that Colombo was not worth visiting. I had a hard time internet searching for a hotel in Colombo. The spare but simply elegant decor at this relatively small hotel suited our taste, as did the price. The location was excellent. Excellent food, worth waiting for (and you will wait.) The nearby National Museum was worth a visit, notwithstanding its hot airlessness. And the nearby Seema Malakaya temple/meditation structure, designed by the late Geoffry Bawa, is a gem of modern Buddhist design.

I was recommended to stay at lake lodge and am pleased that I was. We booked the garden villa it was a great choice. The room was beautifully appointed and the villa had its own private courtyard.
The food and wine was superb as was the management and staff.
We found this hotel very central and would recommend it.
Could not fault one thing
We will be back

Room Tip: Any room would be fine but we had the garden villa and it was worth it
