Stayed just one night as we travelled through Colombo. Bit hard to find as it’s down a cul de sac, it’s really just a house turned into boutique accommodation so expect small overall footprint and it explains why there is no pool - no place to put it!! Our room was on the first floor and was decorated with plenty of minimalist chic - concrete being the key design material - even the benches were made out of it. Beautiful high ceilings, walk in robe and decent bathroom although leaning on the small size and I couldn’t open the windows so it’s quite dark. Not much atmosphere around as it’s small so you’re not going to meet others. Breakfast was a highlight as we preordered the Sinhalese special - delicious hoppas and mild chicken and egg curry and a dhal. We tried to get out early for a walk but the property gates were locked so had to ring the guard - let them know if you are leaving early. We could walk to lots of places from the hotel but note it’s pretty hot. Tuk tuks are a good idea if needed. All the staff spoke good English and were friendly enough. Linens good too, could maybe provide more towels.

I had plans to spend a couple of days exploring Sri Lanka on my way to the Maldives. I arrived the day after the Easter attacks so the city was shut down. I decided to not venture too far out and this hotel was a lovely place to be "confined" to. Excellent customer service, room was clean and so comfortable, and it was quiet and calm. I am happy I stayed here and would highly recommend this place. All of the staff are so lovely and accomodating!!

Small hotel slightly out of the centre of Colombo (but not far) which is a bonus. Lovely staff. Excellent food. Clean smart rooms. Peaceful hotel for a base in Colombo without being right in the frantic centre.

My wife and I stayed here for one night at the end of a 12 day tour of Sri Lanka. This is a small hotel and an excellent place to stay for a night. First, someone has put some thought into the decor, it’s really quite stylish. We had the Garden Room, which gave us some extra privacy. The hotel, while centrally located, is at the end of a one-way street next to a communal sports ground, so it’s quiet. We had dinner at the Nuba Gama restaurant in the Cinnamon Grand Hotel (outdoor buffet, Sri Lankan food, surprisingly inexpensive, excellent quality). However, our excellent breakfast the following morning lead us to think that we could have had dinner in the hotel as well). We left early in the morning, so can’t say much more about this hotel, except to recommend it highly as a stopover before taking a flight back home.

On our return to the UK, my wife and I have learned about the bombings and loss of lives that happened yesterday. Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected. Only the people in Sri Lanka will suffer because of this. Tourism is just starting to get going after the problems of the tsunami and the Civil War. As a result of this atrocity, tourists may well decide to take their holidays elsewhere in the world; hotel staff, tuk-tuk drivers, taxi firms, everyone who benefits directly and indirectly from the tourist trade will suffer. And what will actually change? Probably nothing. Bombing churches and the people therein who have gone to pray is the action of people who are not religious but use religion as their excuse in an attempt to force their way of life on others. We are fortunate in the UK. Our biggest concern is that Brexit and the actions of our present government makes us look embarrassing. But we live in a democracy. It’s not perfect but we live safely. The perpetrators of these bombings must be found and punished in accordance with democracy and the rules of law. We wish all the people of Sri Lanka a safe 2019.

The first hotel of our Sri Lankan trip. We arrived at the hotel around 6pm and we were welcomed with a fresh cold towel and a homemade ginger, mango & lime ice lolly. The hotel is beautifully done, minimalist with polished concrete and spacious bedrooms. The highlight of our quick stop here was the extremely comfortable bed (made even better after 15 hours travelling - no sleep). Wide, soft white sheets, light duvet and plump pillows. The staff were all so friendly and we enjoyed a delicious supper (very good value), local gin and Lion lagers. Breakfast was wonderful with local fruit and their “healthy” bowl of buffalo curd and granola (their “not so healthy” breakfast looked delicious too!).
