Hotel Uzbekistan is well known in Tashkent. I found it to be more interesting from the outside than the inside, however. The rooms were run down with old furniture and worn carpeting. There was an abundance of storage in the room (which I don't understand considering most people would only stay a few days) and if you looked through the cement decoration outside each window, there was a great view. If you expect a basic but large room with no frills, you won't be disappointed. However, if you are used to clean, comfortable rooms with flat-screen TVs, etc., you may want to look into other hotels. The only major complaint I had is that there was no drinking water provided and the hotel charged $3 for one bottle of water (compared to 70 cents in a shop).
