We scheduled a week long tour through Uzbekistan in November 2016 - Tashkent, Kiva, Bukhara, Samarkand, and Tashkent. Initially we provided the places we wanted to go and our time frame. They made everything - from the beginning to the end - so easy and still so special. Anur Tours came through with a well planned tour that included everything we asked for, and also offered some thoughtful suggestions for us to consider. Throughout the planning process we had a number of special requests, and Anur Tours met all the requests graciously. All of the staff was wonderful to work with. And the guides that they used in each of the cities were amazing - they knew the history well and they were fun to be with. Everyone of them gave us excellent suggestions for restaurants and other sites and not once during the trip did we feel like we were being directed from one "special vendor" to another. Incidentally, while we were travelling, there was another group traveling with a higher ranked tripadvisor group. That tour had approximately 20 people and they had a set schedule. we had the two people in our own group and a great deal of flexibility. For me, the choice seems obvious....

When I decided to go to Turkmenistan/Uzbekistan/Kyrgyzstan this year I contacted a number of tour companies to make enquiries as to itinerary and pricing. Aziza from Anurtour was incredibly quick to respond, to formulate an itinerary, and price it up. Her high attention to service continued throughout the trip, from answering our multiple emails pre journey, from our last minute requests during the trip itself, to her post trip emails.

The convoluted LOI process was made very easy for us. No need to apply to embassies overseas; we just sent in a completed form, and photo and Aziza took care of the rest.

The tour itself was great - we had 1 guide in each of Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, and 1 guide in each city in Uzbekistan and were consistently impressed by their wealth of knowledge. Someone met me at 4:45am when I arrived at Bishkek airport, the signs were clearly marked, and the same again in Uzbekistan where we were speedily escorted through customs beating the hordes of people, and in Turkmenistan where our guide physically escorted us on the Turkmen side and through the visa and customs process.

The partner guide on the Turkmen side has their own yurt at the Door to Hell and it was amazing to camp in a tent in 0 degrees walking distance from the great pit. Hotel standards were all definitely livable and walking distance from food and often, bazaars.

All in all a highly recommended tour company. Many thanks to Mumin, Aziza and the rest of the guides and drivers that made our 2 weeks so interesting.

Travelling to this part of the world can be difficult and time consuming, given the relative paucity of tourists to the region. Two of the countries (Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) have rather onerous visa application processes, and a lack of diplomatic representation worldwide can deter even the most motivated of travellers.

As a result, when we decided to travel here, we decided that a tour would be the easiest and safest option. Many operators from the West seem to charge a significant premium (one other tour group we encountered had 3 guides!) and so Anur provides a very good alternative.

Anur Tours is a local tour agency based out of Tashkent. They have extensive links with operators in the other Central Asian countries (including Owadan, one of the largest operators in Turkmenistan).

Our itinerary was a multi-country tour taking in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
From the get go, the main contact person, Aziza, was extremely helpful and quick in replying to our multitude of questions. The application for the Turkmen/Uzbek Letter of Invitations (to get out visas in country) was done without any hassles and received in a timely manner.

As our tour was multi-country, we essentially had 3 separate country tours with the same guide for the whole time in Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan and individual guides in Uzbekistan for each of the cities.

The co-ordination in terms of start to end was almost seamless, with someone always awaiting us as we passed through the plethora of hotels and boarding crossings (both land and airport). Indeed, at Tashkent airport we were expedited through the the very long customs queue!

Mumin is the managing director of Anur Tours, and interestingly, sometimes will be the one picking you up from the hotel/airport as he 'gets bored sitting at desk'! Indeed, he was the one to collect us from Tashkent airport and drop as at the train station for our train to Samarkand.

There were some hiccups with a view extra activities we tried to organise (albeit a bit last minute) but we think this may have been due to some miscommunication.

Overall, we can't recommend Anur Tours enough for your holiday in Central Asia! Many thanks to Aziza for all her help and advice.
