Decent, clean, friendly staff, easy access to public transport or ferry station.Breakfast excellent. The room is a bit small from my point of view but enough for sleep. :)
I guess next year i will choose the same hotel.

--Hotel—
Staff excellent, friendly, welcoming, helpful
Breakfast excellent.
Some traffic/people noise in the evening (giving it cultural flavor), not so much at night.
As a tourist primarily visiting the European side (Sultanahmet, etc) is a huge bonus getting out of that tourist area in the evening. The ferry terminal is a 5minute walk from the hotel and the ferry to Emimonou/Karakoy is a true pleasure. There is ample shopping near the hotel at better quality and prices than the Sultanahmet area IMO. There aren’t many tourists staying on the Asian side so there aren’t the snakeoil salesmen and tourist traps like Sultanahmet area. From the Ataturk airport, you can take the IDO ferry (from Bakirkoy to Kadikoy) and walk to the hotel – the ferry was 20mins which is infinitely better than a taxi into Sultanahmet.
--Room—
Room clean, maintained.
Some faint smoke smell even though it’s non-smoking.

The Zumrut is perfect for those who want easy access to public transport with the ferry station within a few minutes walk as well as buses and dolmus very close by.

I stayed there for a couple of nights - my room was on the third floor and overlooked the hotel entrance as well as shops and apartments. It was occasionally noisy when the mini buses drove down the street as the drivers have a highly irritating habit of continually beeping the horn. I also could hear the TV in the adjacent room (going at full volume for many hours) but this was more down to an inconsiderate guest - it was otherwise not particularly noisy. My room was an odd design but as only being occupied by myself it was sufficient for my needs. Reasonably modern bathroom, lighting wasn't great, bed comfortable.

The breakfast room was completely characterless and staff tended to watch the guests - a little unnerving when you are eating alone. Breakfast was adequate, though nothing special.

Reception staff were very helpful and when I encountered one who couldn't understand me he immediately phoned a colleague who was off duty to assist. They also offered to assist me to take my luggage to the ferry when I departed which was very kind of them.

The hotel does not take the no smoking policy seriously. There are large signs in the lift and dotted about the hotel indicating that is a non smoking area however I presume they are just following a law by doing this as there are ashtrays and matches available on display in the rooms. I was woken at 6.30am on both mornings by a strong smell of cigarette smoke clearly coming from one of the neighbouring rooms - it could also be smelt elsewhere in the hotel. Maybe they need to consider having non-smoking floors (and enforce it) for their guests who request it!

The hotel is well located and nearby to many shops and restaurants - I would return but only if I was guaranteed a non-smoking room (and floor).

NB Keep your curtains closed if you want privacy in the evenings as I could easily see into the apartments opposite who only had net curtains drawn.

Very decent, with almost no western tourists, only locals for business or tourism. Clean, friendly staff, large rooms and bathrooms. Wireless thoughout the hotel. Many satellite channels. Best point? The area of the city: filled with shops, mosques, cozy bars and restaurants and... well, no mass tourism.
