“Great Istanbul Hotel Great Location Great Staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2013

Where do I start? I was looking for a nice and an inexpensive place to stay for my week in Istanbul. I found both at the Best Nobel Hotel. The front desk staff were friendly and spoke English. While the line staff struggled with English their smiles made up for any language barriers.

My room was small, clean and neat. The bathroom and linens were spotless and the cleaning crew did a wonderful job every day. While I enjoy staying in big hotel chains, I rather not afford them if it helps me save and extend my travel budget. After all, and as mentioned in previous reviews, I only use my room as a place to clean up and get some rest.

I came in a all hours of the night and never once felt unsafe when walking to the hotel. There was alway a front desk person there to say hello or offer a polite nod and smile.

I would like to comment on the noise level of this hotel. As mentioned in other reviews, noises in this place travel well. My problem really was not the fact that noise travels well, but the fact that there seem to be guess that were calling loudly to each other from other floors as they came in from their late night activities and retired to their rooms. It was annoying at best, but not something that would prevent me from highly recommending this place.

I guess I should also mention the area. You are staying in tourist central when staying anywhere in Sultanahmet. There are major advantages and disadvantages to this fact. On the plus side everything is really a very short walk and access to all of the Sultanahment attractions are within walking distance as is access to the rails and ferries. On the not so plus side, there are a lot of shop owners offering friendly greetings that are a ruse to get you to enter into their shops and buy something. It was slow during my visit in March, so it seemed like every shop and restaurant had someone working very hard to get you to come into their business.

So there you have it, I just got back from my trip to Istanbul and this is the first trip review I have written. This place is a must stay if you are looking for friendly staff that offers clean safe rooms. I recommend it highly as a home base for your stay in Istanbul.

Room Tip: Ask for a window and not next to the lift. The higher the floor the better. Also, I had a bit...

Good location is the main reason I choose this hotel. It is just 3 mins walk from the railway station, and 15mins to Sultanahmet area, You can also walk to the seaside and cross the bridge to the other side, or take a ferry to the Asia side.

There are a lot of dining choices around the area. The buffet breakfast is good. The room is small but clean, the only problem is I can hear the noise in the life lobby when people are talking or staff are cleaning the rooms.

It provides free wifi and free usage of computer in the lobby.

I enjoyed my one week stay there. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Thank you guys!
The rooms there are quite different one from another, but what you should do is to tell to the staff if something is not ok, and they will do their best to help. (own experience) My favourite part was the bed, though. Despite it being a single one, it was still extremely comfortable.
Shame we had a tv, which did not work - but then again, I never said anything about it to the staff. They would have fixed it if only i did tell them. The cleanness is excellent!
When it comes to location, next time I might prefer something in a more busy area of town. Despite this hotel being very close to blue mosque, it was still very touristic dining area with no options of going out close by. But for people looking for safety and quiet, this is just the place!

We stayed for 1 night in August and considered it to be moderate value for money. The hotel is in a great location close to cafes, the tram, and major tourist sites. Staff at reception were helpful. The room was a bit worn but it was clean. The room had a TV and the added bonus of a bar refrig. The toilet (hard to turn off the water) and shower hose (water sprayed through it) did not work well. The room was also a bit noisy, probably because it was a Saturday night.
Breakfast choice was OK (for us Australians) but probably better for Europeans.
It was no where near as good value as the Erboy Hotel.

This hotel is located within walking distance from the Tram Station. The staff here were't exactly friendly, but then again, the Turkish aren't really a friendly lot. At least they were kind enough to let me check-in at 0800 after a long haul flight. My room a single room was extremely small, and the shower hose was broken when I arrived but was fixed quickly once I raised the issue. The toilet was clean and the water pressure good. No complaints here.

For the money I paid, I am definitely not complaining.

Spacious for a room in a budget hotel. If discoloured grouting in the bathroom is a no-no for you, room 501 wouldn’t be a good choice. Lots of natural light but the curtains don’t meet to cover the window at night. A member of staff assisted when we mentioned this by bunching up the net curtain at the exposed end. The wardrobe door helps in this respect as well but there’s not much looking over you up here anyway. It’s high enough to be able to sleep through any noise yet you still can soak up the city sounds such as passing trams and restaurant music, which made it atmospheric. The floors were clean enough to not need slippers. We had lots of problems when we arrived – fridge not working, bedding not covering the whole bed, the safe wasn’t working, and yet the staff could apologise enough and replaced them speedily and without fuss. Similarly, the wi-fi wasn’t working but staff persisted and were very helpful no matter how many times we called on them to help and reboot the router. After a start that saw us almost move hotel due to the sheer number of problems, we settled in for a good four days with no further trouble. However, the promised repair to the light over the sink, where wires were showing, never materialised. No floor towel but I can’t rule out a cultural difference here (we’re from the UK).
