“Wonderful position in the Old Town of Istanbul”
Reviewed 25 June 2009

A small friendly hotel, in an excellent position in the old town - all the main sights are in very easy walking distance.
The staff are very friendly & helpful - the breakfast selection is superb & the view from the roof terrace is excellent - right next to Blue Mosque & overlooking the Bosphorus.
The bedrooms are a little small & need more cupboard space but are attractive & very clean. There are many good resturants only a few metres up the road. You only have to step out of the hotel & you are in the real Istanbul without having to travel anywhere - the modern tram line is only a few minutes walk away so it is easy to travel to other areas without any problems - the tokens for the trams are sold from a little kiosk near the stops, and used to get on the platforms.

1: Sultanahmet is the best location for a short stay in Istanbul - right in the middle of the most atmospheric, charismatic, old and beautiful part of this huge city. Why waste your time travelling from other areas of the city, when you know this is where you want to be?

2: When you are in Akbiyik Caddesi you feel as if you are in a small village - not a metropolis. Best Point is at the quiet end of Akbiyik Caddesi, peaceful but still within a minute's walk of friendly, welcoming cafes and bars, and Arasta Bazaar of course.

3: Customer service at the hotel is spot on - attentive, informative and professional when you need it; chilled and unintrusive when you don't. There is a roof terrace with spectacular views of the Blue Mosque and the sea. Breakfast is really very, very good. Rooms? - yes they are small; yes there are a lot of stairs - you're in an old building in Istanbul - love it for what it is or find a Novotel.

4: The hotel is highly rated, yet is still a small hotel (though expanding - new suites added this year). It is very popular for the reasons I have stated, so if you want to stay in the best place you need to book your room today.

5: Just do it.

We booked our room at the Best Point with a little trepidation...booking boutique hotels is somewhat of a hit and miss game. Having spent three nights here, I'm quite happy I trusted the plethora of positive reviews of the Best Point I read on Trip Advisor prior to our trip.
The location was unbeatable...the room was very, very clean...and the service was first rate.

Highly, highly recommended.

Complimentary airport transfers (both ways), very warm greeting with cake and coffee at our arrival, complimentary snacks and drinks throughout our stay, friendly helpful staff going the extra mile, all combined to make this a memorable stay. The breakfast (included) was very good, and they would carry it from the downstairs breakfast room all the way up to the roof terrace for you if you wished. Our room was quite small, as was the bathroom, but this was a minor nuisance (other travellers may feel differently). A brief walk to the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, and other tourist attractions. There is currently construction going on ( a bit noisy at times), but it is apparently to build a more modern annex to the hotel, so Best Point figures to get even better.

This neat hotel offers everything one needs for a good citytrip.

The only negative point is works being conducted next to the hotel are a bit noisy.

We stayed at this charming hotel for several nights, and were very impressed by the excellent service. The staff were truly hospitable, and we had a great experience.

Our stay at the hotel was broken into two segments (when we first arrived in Turkey, and again before we left). When leaving the first time around, we had to leave the hotel at around 4 in the morning in order to catch a flight to central Anatolia. Much to our surprise, the hotel staff had prepared breakfast for us, along with piping hot tea. In addition, we left one of our suitcases at the hotel, and this was already placed in our room when we returned. Further, I note that we forgot to lock the suitcase before we left. Although it contained a valuable laptop, we were not in the slightest concerned, and for good reason.

In short, we have never experienced the level of service that we enjoyed at Best Point, and would gladly return on any future visit.
