We had eggplant appetizer, fried calimari and sea bream as the main course. We had no alcohol but it is available. The ill was 95 TL.

The food is good but other places have equally good and better sea food. The location is on a decrepit street with nothing to recommend it. Getting to the restaurant involves going through a narrow tunnel with aggressive taxi drivers pushing through. At night this passage could be deadly. The service was OK but rushed. Three waiters kept coming by and seemed in a hurry for us to leave. As soon as we finished, they brought the bill and then hovered until we paid. Not a good feeling and very untypical of Turkey.

The restaurant is supposedly nonsmoking but there was a continual stream of cigarette smoke from somewhere. This is an "in" place with Lonely Planet but in the real world, it is just a run down place with good, but not great food.

Lonely planet and Tripadvisor suggesting this place - for us it is more than enough.
After a long day with Taksim and Bosphorus we arrived to Sultanahmet completely lost and desperate to find this place. But everyone knows where it is. Honestly, ask anyone local in the shop, in any hotel - everyone knows.
We came there around 21:30 and it was full, not even a single table, but the waiter told us to wait 10 minutes (which we spend playing with cats and tasting fruits in the nerby shop).
And after 10 minutes we received a table really close to the kitchen. This place is a homemade, feels like you came to someone's house to eat something fantastic.
We took chef's salad, eggplant, calamari and blue fish and started to look around - very very small place - only 3 table under the roof (inside) and 6-7 tables on the street (during the cold evening the street part was covered with plastic walls) many interesting things, articles about the restaurant, pictures - very impressive. And then the food came.
What can we tell about the taste - it was delicious! I'm not a big eater of seafood - but even I have eaten a few calamari. And the fish was so good)
Our table was close to the kitchen, so we saw the preparation procedures - very simple and very nice.
Total price including water and bread was around 80 liras for 3 people.

A small restaurant - so arrive early! We ate there 3 times, and were treated like friends by the 3rd time. Fish was fresh, cooked to perfection, very reasonable prices, friendly atmosphere. And very handy for the Sultan Tughra hotel almost opposite - also recommended.

We hadn't booked so arrived early to this small, unassuming, café-style restaurant. We were invited to choose our fish (not alive!) which was cooked simply and tasted delicious. We were also served bread, a tasty fresh salad, succulent calamari and had a bottle of white wine - no choice there! The staff are delightful and speak English and French. After paying the bill of about £20/head, he brought a saucer for 'TIPS, TIPS'!! We were happy to oblige in this lovely back street restaurant.

This restaurant is a highly recommandable address. Actually the only one you can blindly go to in Sultanahmet. Mix of locals and tourists, very good fish, local prices, no bad surprises, no fuss, very nice people. Authentic experience. Very simple settings. Will make you love Istanbul more!
