“Excellent service”
Reviewed 2 October 2011

We were booked for two nights at Emine Sultan Hotel at the end of our trip to Turkey. As our shuttle van wound it's way into the tiny streets off the highway from the airport our first night, I wondered where exactly we were going. There were just a few small hotels, a couple of private dwellings and lots of quiet so I wondered how far away from things we were. However, the light of the next day and a very short walk brought me right to the famed Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, and Hagia Sophia--you couldn't imagine a more perfect location.

From our second floor window (Room 203) we could look out on the ships passing through the Bosphorus. The room with two twin beds was snug and since my main chore for this stay was to reorganize all our suitcases before flying home it was a tight space. But there was a nice homey feel to the room. On the rooftop is a terrace where breakfast is served--a buffet with a fairly good selection of items including cocoa (a first on our whole trip). The lobby is quite elegant and includes a computer for free guest use. There is an elevator but it's one person plus one suitcase size so it took us more than one trip.

The staff are quite wonderful and speak excellent English. When our shuttle van to the airport did not show up as scheduled on departure morning, the desk man called around to find us alternate transportation and said he would pay the driver and then bill our tour company himself.

A block away is a main street that has cafes and shops. A great place to eat is the cafe attached to the Abella Hotel which offers meals throughout the day. I especially recommend their tomato soup which comes with a large backet of fresh bread.

Location - The hotel is conveniently located, very close to the top attractions and also to dozens of good eat outs and local shops
Staff - Excellent! Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The owner - Özen and her colleagues - Suzan and Selim, helped us with advice on what to see, where to eat in the city and also with bookings for the Whirling Dervishes shows
Breakfast - Decent spread. Nice and tasty
Rooms - Spacious, neat and clean. Lots of storage space
Price - Maybe a wee bit pricey given that the peak of the tourist season was already well over

This hotel was absolutely everything I hoped it would be and more. The location was absolutely perfect....a 10 minute walk through the heart of the city to get to the subway, a five minute walk to some of the cities biggest attractions, near several yummy food venues, surrounded by great local shops, and very safe. The hotel was also clean and provided everything you could possibly need- wireless internet, a delicious breakast, in room fridges, and various tour group offerings.

However, my favorite part about the hotel was the service. We were treated like family while at the Emine Sultan Hotel. ALL of the staff went way, way out of their way to take care of us. Whatever we needed, at any time, all we had to do was ask. We were hungry one late night...so they opened up their kitchen for us at 3am. I needed tape and boxes to ship some of the goodies I bought home...the next day I had boxes and tap waititng outside of my hotel room door. My friend and I also wanted to check out some local hooka venues....the owner and his friend personally took us out one night.

By the end of the trip I most sad to have to say goodbye to the wonderful staff. I look forward to seeing them all again. You would be a fool to oay more and stay anywhere else. Seriously.

We have stayed here so many times now (first time in October 2008) - sometimes as a base for a mini break in Istanbul, sometimes for a night on the way to or way back from somewhere else. The owner Özen Dalgin always makes us feel utterly at home. We have recommended this cosy little hotel to so many people and they have all been more yhan satisfied. A friend who stayed just last week texted me with a simple "Superb". It's a tiny place, the rooms are not over spacious, but they are pretty and comfortable. The location in Sultan Ahmet, right next to the Blue Mosque, is magical and the view from the roof terrace over the Sea of Marmara is captivating. The breakfast buffet is varied and plentiful with great coffee (didn't used to be, but Özen took our comment on board). We will always use the Emine Sultan for our Istanbul hotel.

Perfect location inthe Sultanahmed old part of Istanbul. The view of the Blue Mosque from the patio on the top is breath taking, specially at night. You have breakfast looking at the Marmara Sea and everything is home made including the many kinds of mermelaids. The lady who prepares all is sweet and helpful and always available. it is a rather small hotel and it does not have a restaurant, but it is surrounded by places where to eat. The rooms are not big but quite adequate. The guys at the front are very friendly and helpful. We have nothing negative to report! Within walking distance from all, including a beautiful open air Bazar that used to be horse stables. We fell inlove with the area and were very happy at The Emine Sultan.
