“Lovely lodging in central Istanbul”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2011

I've stayed in Istanbul at i'zaz lofts for 6 nights.
The place was nice, well kept, clean and very convienant.
It took a bit of trouble to find my driver at the airport, something that happened also to my colleagues, so there is room for improvement. The host, Sadi, is very friendly and helpfull and made the stay a very pleasant one.
The roof terrace is very nice only too hot during the day (it was 28 to 30 degrees celcius), but made for a nice after hours place for a drink.

The street is very noisy, throughout the night, so you need the airco or earplugs to get your sleep. On one end you'll find numerous fish restaurants, the other end a busy road with hookers in the night. Never a dull moment here! But the street and the apartment feels very safe. And there's a 24 hour guard for that extra bit of security.

Room Tip: The ground floor is a little smaller than the upstairs apartments.

Dear Hein020,
Thank you very much for your feedback and all your kind words; we truly appreciate it.
Though we would like to clarify couple things for people who have not traveled/stayed in the Beyoglu area before.

The street that you mentioned which has the prostitutes is the major boulevard passes through the entire Beyoglu area. As in any major avenue in an urban area around the world, one can observe all walks of life on them, from a mosque to a gay club, from an art center to prostitution at night time. Since this boulevard bisects the whole area, nearly every major hotel is located within a block or two of it. One can choose to venture on to that street or stay away.

In regards to the noise in your room, since we are located in the heart of Beyoglu we have installed triple glazed windows. We encourage our guests to sleep with the windows closed in order to not be disturbed by the surrounding nightlife. Although we provide earplugs in the room for those who are very light sleeper, guests rarely ever use them.

Lastly I am terribly sorry that you had a hard time meeting with your driver at the airport, unfortunately during the peak times and considering the international terminal having only one exit for all the flights coming in, sometimes guests have a hard time seeing the drivers holding a sign with their names. We always strive to have guests on their way to i'zaz with in 15 minutes of exiting customs.

As you mentioned there is always room for improvement and we will take your feedback to heart.
Thank you.

we were extremely pleased with our stay. we arrived at the hotel at 6:30am and the host was there waiting for us already. even though the room was not ready, he allowed us put our bags in the office and showed us to the roof top area where we rested until our room was available. the host also gave us some great advise about istanbul while we waited. the room itself was great and modern. wifi was strong. common area on the roof is great for breakfast. overall, we couldn't be happier with our stay. the location is right in the center of the hip area in istanbul.

Room Tip: if u have a lot of luggage, the ground floor room is best as you don't have to carry your stuff...

My girlfriend and I stayed four nights and could not have been more pleased with this place. The owner and the managers speak very good English and the property has 24-hour security (not that you need it at all). You are only steps from Istikal Caddesi, which runs all the way from Taksim Square to Galata. Such a fun and vibrant area! Also make sure to explore Pera, which is right around the corner where great restaurants exist in what's called Little Europe. In Pera sits the Pera Palace where Agatha Christie was said to stay while writing Murder on the Orient Express. You can't beat the location or the value of Izaz and I would recommend it to anyone going to Istanbul. For anyone who hasn't visited Turkey, the value of anyone who speaks English is huge, and they deliver on this.

Just spent a week at the I'zaz lofts and will definately be staying there the next time i'm in Istanbul. Fantastic rooms, great staff and perfectly located near İstiklal Caddesi. Lots of great places to eat nearby and the lofts have there own kitchen and terrace area on the roof which is also great. Staff are very friendly and helpful, but leave you to your peace. Can't recommend I'zaz highly enough.

My wife and I spent 4 very special nights at I'zaz. We where traveling Turkey with another couple, who stayed at another hotel, and these were the last few nights before returning to the US.
To the point, we stay on the 3rd floor with a small balcony that overlooks the street that i'zaz is on. This is a great feature when you want to relax and people watch from afar. The room was so clean and the staff seemed to take real pride in making sure you felt like you were in your own little Istanbul apartment. The decoration was a nice mix between contemporary modern, while allowing that old glory of the building shine through.
Perhaps one of the best features of the hotel is the terrace/kitchen located on the roof. Our Friends came over to I'zaz and we would gather at the roof in the morning and prepare breakfast and plot out our day. All in all this was a great oasis in the middle of bustling Istanbul and a great way to end our vacation.

Couldn't have aske for a better location. I initially thought that Sultanahmet was they place to stay since all the main tourist sites are there. But that would have been a huge mistake, All the best restaurants, bars and nightlife are a within blocks of I'zaz but just far enough away to not disturb.
