“Fantastic location, very friendly staff, amazing views!”
Reviewed 5 May 2011

I just stayed at the Adamar hotel for 4 nights over the royal wedding. I was a solo traveler and was given a room with 2 twin size beds. The room was small by American standards, but very clean, moder, and had all the amenities one would need. There are 25 rooms in the hotel on 5 floors. Each floor is given a color > i was on the 'pink floor' so had a room with pink walls and a bathroom with pink tile.
Some great things about this hotel:
- location: it is SO close to the main sights (Haguia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, grand bazaar), tram stations, etc..
- there are loads of nice restaurants all around
- it is super clean and comfortable
- the staff is so friendly. I asked about the famous Turkish Baths; one staff member actually walked me to the nearest one! they enquire about your day and make sure everything is easy and great for you
- the restaurant on the top floor is amazing; it has panramic views of the entire city. Havin breakfast there is a treat! one floor up and you're on the roof terrasse. The views are lovely.

I highly recommend it if you're looking for a nice, unique, not expensive hotel in a perfect location with unbeatable views.

My wife and I stayed at the Adamar for 3 nights recently. We found it to be absolutely terrific, with small but spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms, fantastic location (100 meters to Cistern, 200 meters to Aya Sofia) and to top it all off the friendliest and most helpful staff we have come across at any hotel we have stayed at. If this weren't enough there is a roof top restaurant with uninterrupted views to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi, the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus. We had a great dinner here one night, and breakfast every morning - what a start to the day. Heartily recommended.

Eight of us stayed in the Adamar for three nights at the end of April. This hotel is a gem - fairly small but not too small. The rooms over five floors are a good size and very nicely furnishised. with modern fittings and en-suites. Spotlessly clean. The restaurant on the sixth floor has panoramic views over the city and the Bosphorus and Sea of Marmara with the Princes Islands in the distance. The views from the open roof-top terrace are superb - the hotel is literally five minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and Haghia Sofia, and 10 minutes to the Topkapi Palace - so the day and night-time views are fantastic. The restaurant staff are friendly and nothing was too much trouble - they will serve you drinks and light refresments right through the day if you want to relax in the restaurant/ roof top terrace and just take in the views. We finished off our stay with dinner which was very good.
A special mention for Mehmet on the front desk, who like many of the staff, spoke excellent English. He was especially helpful and friendly, and has a good sense humour. Thank you Mehmet for all your help in organising taxis and airport transfers.
This is an excellent hotel witha first class team of staff. I would return again.

After staying in Istanbul for 4 nights we can highly recommend the Adamar hotel. It's situated right in Sultanahmet and in proximity to all the sights but in a side street. On the sixth floor there is a roof deck with wonderful views of Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the sea. You have breakfast full of choices on the fifth floor enjoying the same spectacular roof. The rooms are not too spacious, but very nicely appointed and very clean. We enjoyed staying here and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

As the title suggests The Adamar was a top quality experience. As previous reviewers have said it is ideally located in the heart of old Istanbul and a few minutes walk away from all the main attractions this wonderful city has to offer. The hotel itself provides a superb breakfast in conjunction with service which is of the highest quality. All the staff were extremely helpful and could'nt do enough to make our stay memorable. The Reception team, Mehmet and his colleague were knowledgeable, friendly and outstanding ambassadors of their country and their hotel. The rooms though typical of a boutique hotel were extremely comfortable, clean (very high standard). We highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there on our next visit to Istanbul.

I would call this hotel a "hidden gem." It was in a great location about a 5 minute walk to the Blue Mosque, St Sophia, the Grand Bazaar and the nearest tram stop. The included breakfast buffet was enough to fill you up. The panoramic restaurant had unbelievable views. The bar was small but ok. My room (being a solo traveller) was small but cozy and clean. The gentleman who worked reception (named Mehmet) was very informative and always had time to answer any questions that guests had about the city, directions, etc. The only two negative things I could say is that 1) the streets outside the hotel were noisy at night (but that is to be expected in a city right?) and 2) the morning call to prayer (at about 5:30am) was something not even a heavy sleeper could sleep through as the mosque was located right near the hotel. But if one can overlook these cons then I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel!! You will not be disappointed.

What a great hotel! The location is great. The service is wonderful, especially Mehmet who went out of his way to make sure our stay was great. Make sure you go to the roof top terrace. The view is fabulous.
