“Beautiful Views - Mediocre Room + Staff”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

My husband and I stayed at the The Four Seasons in July. The outdoor area overlooking the Bosphorus was beautiful though the food and wine were mediocre at best. The pool also had a stunning view, but food was not great and the pool area was overtaken by very loud families. So the relaxing experience we had wanted was not possible. Additionally, we were extremely disappointed by our room. It was on the first floor with bushes outside the windows so we could not see the driveway on the otherside. This made the room very dark and the interior was nothing to write home about. The hotel benefits from an amazing terrace, but that's about it. It's a beautiful spot, but go in knowing that staff, food and the rooms are just okay.

I am so grateful we chose to stay here! Nothing feels better than seeing the very happy and always smiling doormen greet you after a long day of travel (and sight-seeing, shopping, etc.) This used to be a palace and it is a very beautiful building. Located on the river, it is never boring watching the activity while eating breakfast or having lunch by the pool. Wi-fi was free (No need to upgrade as it didn't work much better- they credited our bill for that.) which is nice not to be nickel and dimed for. As with all the Four Seasons I have stayed at, the word 'No' doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary. The concierge can make anything happen for you. The staff is beyond friendly- Alper, wait-staff, beyond nice. We even ran into an employee (Front desk or bell desk- I can't remember) while out in the old town as we were trying to find the tram- he came over, introduced himself (he was in street clothes now) and showed us how to get there. Our room was in the new tower, top floor. It was quiet and large. Perfect for my daughter and myself. We definitely plan on going back, not just to this particular hotel but to Turkey. An amazing hotel in an even more amazing country.

Room Tip: I didn't stay in one but I bet the river view rooms are to die for.

We arrived at 6am (having booked the room from the night before) and were given an upgrade on arrival. As a result, we ended up with a room with a view over the river in the historical "Palace" building: nicely furnished, great bed, and a great view.

As we were only in Istanbul for 3 days and spent much of that touring around the city, we did not spend much time in the hotel during the day. The daily breakfast spread, however, is a highlight and being summer time, is served on the riverfront terrace.

If we had one (very minor) complaint it is that there is no dedicated Turkish restaurant for lunch or dinner.

Didn't stay here but went for drinks and snacks and we had an amazing time.

Great customer service, delicious food and drinks, and amazing sights!

Bring $$ though as its not cheap but prices are very comparable to the surrounding hotels and restaurants.

Enjoy.

Location, building staff and attention to detail are hard to beat. Add one of the best Spas in Europe and you are in for a great experience. Gym is great. Rooms are not brand new and super technological but up to what one can expect from a luxury hotel.

This is probably one of the best hotels in Istanbul with everything that you would expect from a hotel in this price range.
The outdoor area that includes restaurant, lounge and pool offers a stunning situation, right on the bosphorus! it looks like you're almost in the water.
Take the opportunity to take the watertaxi to your restaurant or Bosphorus ride directly from the pool area

Room Tip: Have breakfast on the table closest to the water. Take the watertaxi directly from the pool area to...

This was one of the most romantic weekends my husband and I have shared in 30 years. The hotel is gorgeous and the setting along the Bosphorus is stunning. We booked the hotel boat for a private night tour and I recommend that highly. We also made use of the spa and restaurants and all were worthy of the Four Seasons. When things settle down, I would love to re-visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the water.
