Witt Istanbul Suites
Ranked #7 of 1,160 Hotels in Istanbul
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 2 April 2010

The Witt Suites is a very stylish hotel but maintains a warm and friendly atmosphere, all the staff are only too happy to assist you and make your arrangements as hassle-free as possible. The room was very well equipped with a kitchen area and lots of nice little touches like a fondue kit. The breakfast was fine, the options aren't huge but with only a few rooms I wouldn't have expected a massive spread as seen in the several hundred room hotels - the real bonus is that it runs until 11, perfect for lazy mornings! We were especially pleased that they arranged us a breakfast at 5.30am on the morning of our departure.

One thing to bear in mind however is that access from the hotel to the public transport is a really steep but not very well paved road, so if you have walking difficulties it would be necessary to use cabs, which are plentiful enough.

Location-wise there are lots of good restaurants and cafes nearby and it's close to the tram link. The hotel is lovely and calm as the city is so bustling and busy so makes a great place to head back to after a day's sightseeing. There's also a selection of recent DVD releases to watch in the room.

I would recommend using the hotel's car for airport transfers - we used Ataturk airport but the taxi from there was terrifying and the driver didn't know where he was going, however the hotel's driver only cost 5 Lira more (approx £2.50) and drove more sensibly.

The hotel will always be special as my boyfriend proposed in our room!

After the rude taxi driver dropped us at the hotel, it was uphill from then on. Not just literally - as the hotel is located at a sloping undulating part of the Istanbul - but the service just got better and better.
Upon arrival, AYKUT at the reception offered coffee and tea not just to us, but to our friends who were there waiting to check in to ANOTHER hotel nearby. And even helped to store their baggage for a few hours.
AYKUT then patiently explained to us how to find our way around the winding streets of this part of Beyoglu, which are most confusing to a first time visitor to fabulous Istanbul, who is trying to experience the city beyond the confines of the tourist areas of Sultanahmet.
The room is excellent, the 6 head rain shower is unmatchable. The breakfast (either in the lobby or the wheeled into your room upon request) was simply sumptuous.
And the staff is extremely honest - I had accidentally left my credit card after payment at the desk, but was informed of it by email as soon as I was home some 18 hours later. Thanks, Onur KARA !
The only complaint is that the gym and terrace with a view shown in many booking sites are now accessible only to guests of the newly converted suites. Well, too bad - maybe next time ...

I can't describe enough how pleasant, relaxing and luxurious our stay was. Impeccably designed and styled. We had the penthouse terrace room. From the terrace you have the whole panorama of Istanbul to behold. From the right you see Galata tower, panning right, you see all the monuments and mosques ending with Tpkapi palace.

The hospitality, care, and attention to detail of service is better than most Four Seasons hotels I stayed in around the world.

The neighborhood is hip, up and coming, and reminds me of the East Village in Manhattan circa 2004.

Aykut, our friendly and extremely helpful concierge took care of all our needs and wants.

We are already planning to return next month.

just come back from a 4 night stay at the Witt, excellent hotel. Rooms are large, well equipped with microwave, fridge, kettle, cutlery, crockery, glasses etc. Very clean, great 6 head shower, just what is needed after slogging round the hills of Istanbul all day !. Staff are excellent and very helpful, Aykut on reception gets a special mention for his friendly advice and helpfulness. Breakfast at the hotel we found really good, continental style but a couple of hot dishes as well, more then enough to start the day. Location is good but there is a steep climb up from the tramway (about 300 yds away), Taksim square is about 10 mins walk, again uphill (but then everything is in Istanbul). Would definately stay here again.

The hotel is family owned.

The pros:
- The rooms: HIP, clean, spacious.
- Good breakfast.
- The location: on a hill between a Tramstation and Taksim Square.

Things to look out for:
- The Nespresso Machine Coffee costs 5 Euros per shot.
- When its windy, something on the window flaps, which creates noise.

I had read about this hotel and took the plunge, visiting Turkey with a friend for the first time. I was, I admit ,somewhat apprehensive having not visited Istanbul before, I need not have worried. All my fears were allayed at check in. From the moment I entered the Witt I was made to feel so welcome and looked after by the reception staff. Nothing was too much trouble and I must give Murat a special mention for the lengths he went to make us feel secure. The setting, ambience, rooms and tailor made service is second to none. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul.

This hotel is a real gem!
Great Style. Wonerful location. Extremely quiet which is rare in Istanbul. Outstanding Service.
Onut+Murat and the entire team were always helpful, friendly and attentive to our requests and questions.
We will definitely return to the WITT which we consider to be one of the best city hotels in Europe.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Witt Istanbul Suites has an excellent location within walking distance from Istanbul's business district, Istanbul Modern museum and the buzzing bars and boutiques of both Beyoglu and Cihangir. All 15 suites span a generous 60m2. They are popular for long-stay guests as each has a Carrera marble-clad kitchenette with microwave, fridge and Nespresso machine. The super-cool beds with curved headboards and the laptop desks have been especially designed for Witt Istanbul Suites by Autoban. Sheets and towels were also commissioned from Denizli, a famous purveyor of Turkish linen. Cable TV, an excellent DVD collection, ipod docks and a welcome gift of multi-coloured macaroons are indulgent touches. But it's the bathrooms that make these suites really special. The ergonomic Corian sinks with pebble-shaped handles and the cluster of shower-heads that create a cocoon of misty hot water are all from designer Ross Lovegrove's Istanbul collection from Vitra. ... more   less
