Close to the Gulhane and Sirkeci Tramway stops, the Sultanahmet district and the Sirkeci Harbour are on a 2-3 minute walking distance. This hotel offers, a variety of Turkish and continental breakfast, quite alright beds and bathroom facilities, nice terrace, and it's affordable. However it usually is fully booked during Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

Room Tip: For frequent internet users, choose the lower floors as it's difficult to connect through WiFi.

We stayed 8 nights here altogether. The breakfast was good but exactly the same each morning-at the price though it was fine. The rooms are a bit cramped and the bathrooms really small but there is CONSTANT hot water! The fact that it is within walking distance of all the main Sultanahmet attractions is a real plus -we got to know the shopkeepers really well on the street leading from the tram stop-their prices are as fair as anyones' in Istanbul. Gulthane Gardens are beautiful and just a 2 minute walk away. If you want to save money on accommodation so you have more to spend on the wonderful array of goods available Hotel Emek is a good place for you.

Room Tip: Try to stay away from the rooms next to the lift!

It's central location and friendly staff make Emek a very good choice for a low budget stay in Sultanahmet in Istanbul. The rooms may be small but they are clean and adequate for those who only require a place to spend the night. Heating was great, as I visited in the middle of winter and I happened to arrive during a blizzard - the hot shower was an absolute medicine! Staff was great in making me feel at home, they even came to pick me up on my first night out, when I got lost in the little streets in the dead of snow. I would certainly recommend this for the low budget traveller: hard to get lower prices right next to Top Kapi Palace!

The hotel is very noisy because of the noise of the lift, and the people going by. There is no soundproof, so we could hear the doors, the people and the plumbing. The pictures provided by the hotel date from 15 years and don't correspond to the reality. The room is 6 square meters, and the bathroom 1 square meter. The shower is on top of the toilet, smelly and moldy.

The only good things are the location of the hotel, very convenient to visit the old city, and the fact that the staff is kind but we luckily left as soon as we could to find a better place.
