Park Hyatt Istanbul - Macka Palas
Ranked #37 of 1,173 Hotels in Istanbul
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 20 August 2014

There are no enough words to thank the outstanding treatment we received at the Park Hyatt. Like the other Park Hyatt hotels we have stayed before the quality of the service was exceptional.
The staff provided personal attention upon arrival at the hotel. From that moment until we left the staff was amazing, always greeted with smile and extremely courteous. They provided a truly personalized journey.

We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite which was an unprecedented luxurious experience. The decoration was magnificent. My wife is an interior decorator. She immediately felled in love with the amazing Turkish carpets and the artwork. The paintings and unique book selection through the suite were like been in a museum. The suite was tastefully decorated with a meticulous attention to detail.
Whether from inside or the marvelous large outdoor terrace the panoramic views overlooking the Bosphorus were stunning.
The bathroom was so huge that the deluxe hydrotherapy hot tub made us felt we were in a spa.

The Concierge team suggestions for restaurants and places to visit were outstanding and always on spot. The culinary experience at the hotel and the places they recommended were locally authentic and to die for.

The hotel is in a prime location with a very vibrant neighborhood full of restaurants and luxury shops. The hotel was just a short cab ride to the old town.
The pool was a perfect place to relax after a hot day touring the city.

We had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager, Gozde Eren. What a wonderful person. We have to thank her for such a magnificent treatment and advice she provided which made our trip a truly personalized experience.
We couldn't have asked for a better stay and without a doubt the best hotel experience we have had today.

The Park Hyatt was tremendous in the areas of rooms, spaciousness, cleanliness and service. Outstanding. We could not have been happier. I have traveled to Istanbul numerous times, but my friends had not. After much back and forthing regarding hotels, they decided that the Park Hyatt would be ideal for our trip. I felt that as wonderful as this hotel appeared, it would not offer the easy experience of walking out the door and being in the area where a person will be spending their sightseeing time (as first time visitors to the city). But, we gave it a whirl. The location is indeed really quite a challenge, esp for 1st timers. We had 4 instances during our 5 day stay of taxi drivers simply refusing to take us up the hill to the hotel because once up there, they would be caught in massive traffic coming down, which of course impacts their fares/$$$ I expected the traffic and expected the distance, but had not anticipated that during prime commute time (from approx. 3:00-6:00) it might be virtually impossible to get back to the hotel. Buying a pass for ther public transportation system is essential if you want to make it to the Sultanahmet and/or the Bazaar areas in anything approaching a reasonable timeframe. That was all very easy and efficient. I would stay in the Park Hyatt for sure if my goal was shopping and restaurants featured in that area up on the hill. Otherwise there are countless other fabulous hotels in Istanbul that offer the lovely amenities and spacious rooms, but are located in areas that are much more convenient if a person has limited time during their stay.

Dear Vieuxcarre,

Thank you very much for your feedback. Indeed traffic is the most common problem of Istanbul and to overcome that fact can be truly challenging. No matter what, we are happy to see that you enjoyed our hotel and the services.
We will look forward to welcome you back.

Unlike its business-class sibling (Grand Hyatt), the Park Hyatt is a smaller (90-room) boutique hotel designed to provide a more personal level of luxury and service. We have stayed here for a week and are delighted with every aspect of our stay - although it helped that we chose not to take our meals here (they are overpriced and nothing special), especially since the local cafes and restaurants are excellent. At 200 euros per night for this level of comfort and service, we were thrilled - it really was worth it.

We are two adults traveling with two kids (7 and 10): we stayed in a large double room, which had plenty of space for all of us--happily, unlike most hotels, we were not required to take two rooms (which would have been prohibitively expensive). All aspects of design and furnishing were top-quality: the sheets, the fixtures, the huge bathroom, spa bath and rainshower, charming balcony, Nespresso machine, high-speed wifi. The room was serviced three (yes, three) times per day, always while we were out--a thoughtful touch.

The staff addressed us by name and were always ready to assist. On our third day, we had come close to purchasing an expensive Hereke silk rug. Afterward, having asked the concierge for advice (this was on a Sunday), she asked me for full details of the shop and the item; within three hours the hotel's own carpet expert had visited the shop, inspected the rug, and sent me a detailed recommendation on its value--fortunately we did not proceed. The hotel was admirably unbiased--their expert would not accept payment for his services (he is "on staff and on call") nor did they send me elsewhere: impressive, to say the least.

This is one of the very few luxury hotels in Istanbul that has a private *outdoor* pool--this was a necessity with kids during the summer. It's not huge, and it's quiet, but it was perfect. The location was very good: in a posh but relaxed neighbourhood, a 15-lira taxi ride from each of our favourite architectural sites.

Our advice is to stay here, eat locally, use the taxis (which the concierge ensures are honest) to enjoy all the best of the Old Town - and enjoy! We will certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: All rooms are bright and quiet; none have a view, but that's fine--we were here to explore and n...

We stayed here at the end of July for three nights. Shortly after our arrival, my husband and I became very sick with food poisoning. (Don't eat at Hamdi). The staff graciously ran to the pharmacy to pick up medication for us, as well as to pick up Powerade. This will all done very quickly. They also sent up some boiled potatoes and other bland food that might have been tolerable on our systems. Prior to getting sick, I did a hammam in the room and it was great. We appreciated the attentive service throughout our stay - just wish we could have enjoyed the restaurant and gym!

I spent 7 days in the summer of 2014 in the hotel, the hotel is very good, the reception staff were friendly, but the lobby is very small and a small swimming pool is too small. The rooms are very good , big & beautiful furniture. Area is beautiful and quiet and upscale, but far from the historic areas. Taxi drivers do not know where the hotel so it must know the address of the hotel.

Service: I'm going to start with the service since it is what first grabbed my attention. My family is very demanding, from the phone calls before our trip to the rush at checkout. The staff were very well spoken (not easy to find in Turkey) and attended to every request, namely Gulcin who welcomed and saw us through perfectly .

Location: the hotel is located in the elegant shopping area of Nisantasi. It is without question, the best hotel in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is very classy European with the right kind of busy- 15mins away from the centre. If you are looking for an old Turkish experience, you should maybe look for somewhere in the old city but be ready for the noise, crowd and traffic.

Wheelchair accessibility: the hotel was accessible from the entrance to the rooms; except perhaps the pool which had a couple of steps. Walking out of the hotel, the sidewalks were mostly accessible. The hotel needs to fix a ramp to get on the left curb though. We had to manually lift the chair but it wasn't a big deal

Rooms: the rooms look recently renovated. The ones facing the pool have a small balcony. The ones on the other side had only French doors. One of our standard rooms was upgraded to a spa room. I would recommend to go for the spa room as the size does make a difference .
