“Perfect hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2011

After looking at a myriad of hotel options, my wife and I stayed at Tomtom Suites for our honeymoon. The stay was perfect in every respect. The check in staff and process was excellent - within seconds of our transport pulling up to the hotel, we were in our room. The premier suite was excellent, the highlight being the luxurious bathroom which was opulent and fitted with great accessories, which my wife loved! The bed and other facilities were excellent. It was fantastic waking up every morning to the lovely view from the room and then go upstairs for the breakfast. We typically came back to the hotel in the late afternoon which was an oasis to escape the hectic streets of Istanbul. As an independent traveller, I did not need to call on the staff for much assistance, but when I needed something, they offered very good advice and recommended places to go with a local flavour.

As well as the roof terrace, I loved the room with the library which featured a good display of books on the region. The free use of iPads on the roof terrace was a nice touch.

I will definitely come back!

This small hotel is extremely charming. Very well located, although most taxis do not know it and do not know how to reach it ( we advise you to always carry a map and the hotels phone number). The breakfast is delicious, great selection of turkish cheeses! Staff is nice and helpful. This hotel is clearly a much better choice than large five star chain hotels in istanbul ( having experienced the swissotel).

We stayed at Tomtom Suites for four nights at the end of August. Do not be put off by the streets approaching the hotel as the it bears no resemblance to the surroundings! It is cool (in every sense), has huge rooms, pleasant staff and surely one of the best views of the city from its terrace on the 5th floor. The breakfasts were very fresh and plentiful. An ideal location, it is a few minutes walk up a (steep) hill to Istiklal, one of the main shopping streets on this side of the city. The main historic part looks faraway but in fact is easily accessible by jumping on a tram, taking a taxi (reasonably priced) or even walking across Galata Bridge in approx. 30 minutes. The hotel also offered a shuttle bus. We visited with our two teenage children so used two rooms which were very spacious and comfortable. Fab artwork too! All in all, highly recommended and would definitely stay again if lucky enough to revisit Istanbul.

Very well located, tom tom suites, a wonderful boutique hotel, is situated in a central and quiet area. All rooms are suites, modern with beautiful furniture and most comfortable beds. The modern art gives a lot of charm to this unique address. The terrace of the hotel is quiet romantic with a view on the bosphorus.

This review is based on a one week stay at Tom Tom in August 2011 in a Junior Suite.

It is an excellent hotel which we (an English couple in their early 30s) cannot recommend highly enough. The hotel is housed in a period building which has been very impressively renovated and furnished, including by the installation of some stunning modern Turkish artwork. The rooms were attractive and spacious, in particular the bathrooms.

Without exception the staff were very helpful and were happy to accommodate a change in the length of our stay and recommend activities and restaurants. Additionally, the food in and the location of the rooftop restaurant in the hotel itself was superb.

Finally, the location of the hotel is ideal. Beyoglu is a vibrant area of Istanbul, away from the tourist crush of the old town (which is in any case only around 15 minutes away by tram).

Very well run by uniformed, English-speaking staff who were unfailingly polite, helpful and never failed to ask how they can help on all contacts,. The building is a wonder of architecture and was spotlessly clean (it is a converted older build). The bathroom was almost totally marble, with a large Jacuzzi tub, and glass stall shower and lots of room. The bed was great and the amenities were super, although they need to me more generous with bottled water. The hotel building is on a side street with some embassies nearby, a small problem for vehicles (because of the street barrier system associated with such places), but the enhanced police protection was welcome. We were within walking distance of many nice areas, making the evening pleasant to stroll and find restaurants, but the guest should be in fair physical condition to do this because of the hills. The breakfast was great and varied, and served by waiters. The “call to “prayer that may wake some people at early hours (sometimes a problem in Islamic countries) was minimal here.

The downside was associated with the problems of retrofitting and older building. The bathroom lights were overhead and to the side, making shaving and other tasks unnecessarily difficult, The telephone was not by the bed (for wake-up calls), and not very loud. Thus we would miss them, but the staff would always send up a staff member to knock on the door (I recommend you travel with a portable alarm clock).

I would recommend this hotel to any discerning traveler.
