“Great stay in istanbul”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

We stayed in Deluxe Apt 3 for a week at the beginning of October and really enjoyed our stay there. We were collected at airport as promised and met at the apt by Burhan who showed us round.
The location is excellent and we walked everywhere. When we wanted to go to Taksim Square and Dolmabahce Palace, we used the tram which is,also, close by. Tram is a cheap and efficient way to travel. We, also, used it on our return to the airport. Really cheap in comparison to a taxi.
The apt itself was, as advertised. Bright, clean and had everything we required. Wi-fi worked brilliantly and the balcony on the top floor has amazing views.
The grocery shop across the road is a real bonus. You can get bread, water, fruit etc and all at a very cheap price. We were able to get fresh milk at another shop, nearby.
Only negative was the extremely loud call to prayer at 6am but there is a mosque next door and so this was to be expected.
We had a fantastic stay here and would highly recommend this apt.

We stayed in Deluxe Apartment 2 for ten days and enjoyed our stay, but with some reservations.

Firstly the good points. It is in a wonderful location, close to all the major sights in Sultanahmet. The transport arrangements worked well and the manager welcomed us on arrival and showed us round the apartment. We were presented with a few staples such as bread, cheese, milk and fruit, which was much appreciated.

There is a little shop across the road which offers the basics and there is a small supermarket not far away if one wants more substantial food to cook. The airconditioning worked well and the rooftop terrace was a delight. We took our drinks up there every night and looked over the water.

Now for the not so good things. We were told in writing that there was a washing machine and clothes rack in the apartment. This was not the case! We always stay in apartments when we travel, and don't stay where there is no washing machine, so we were really annoyed that we were told something that blatantly not true. Eventually we arranged to use the washing machine in the basement. However on the third day of our stay, they had a major problem with the sewerage (which was not there fault) and the basement was flooded, so no washing machine! They did however offer have our laundry done for us, but we decided to handwash our clothes. There was however no plug in the bathroom, but the manager brought us one, albeit that it didn't really fit.

After the sewerage problem was fixed, there was a notice put in the bathroom to say that no toilet paper was to be flushed down the toilet. As there was no dedicated disposal bin, we found this almost unacceptable.

The door on the balcony was really painful. Although neither of us is stupid, we really didn't master it for the whole time we were there. It was the strangest design we have ever seen and it became the bain of our existence!

The apartment was noisy. We were on the ground floor and our bedroom window faced the street. For some reason, there was always a group of men sitting right under the window, all of whom seemed to smoke, and so we were unable to open our window because of both the noise and the smoke. We would agree with other reviewers that the call to prayer in the morning was very loud, but if one is in a city like Istanbul, one expects this and accepts it as part of the culture and the atmosphere.

The manager tried very hard to address the problems we had, and overall we enjoyed our stay there. It was probably as good as one could expect and we were not unhappy about our stay at all.

Room Tip: Think apartments 4 and 5 would have good views, but one has to climb the stairs to get to them.

We were five people sharing this apartment. Right space for everybody and the common terrace at the fourth floor was astonishing, especially around 8 pm. Clean, new, perfect as position, with all the furniture and the kitchen you had anything you need. The view on the Marmara sea beautiful every morning. Close to all the beautiful Aghia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, the Bazaar, the Egyptian, Bazaar and many more. The person who helped us with everything we could ask, was really kind, professional and helpful. I would surely say that I'd like to go there again.

We stayed here:

http://www.istanbulsuitehome.com/index.php/en/apartments/73-deluxe-aparts-2.html

Excellent accommodation for a family of four. Clean and well-equipped. It didn't feel crowded and the roof space with a courtesy fridge and comfortable loungers was a nice bonus. The wifi worked and the guys who welcomed us were very helpful and accommodating.
Would definitely stay again. Maybe a microwave and an iron and board would be useful additions.
Others have mentioned the rather loud muezzin, especially in the morning. Obviously, this is part of the atmosphere of being in a muslim country; but, yes, the amplified call is very loud. Best advice is to close the windows – we found that helped a lot. Don't let this put you off!

We had a very good stay in the apartment which is very conveniently located -- walking distance to shopping, Blue Mosque and grand bazar. The apartment is well equipped and very very clean. Yuksel, the owner has a lovely shop and cafe too and is very generous with guests who are living in his apartment. Will definitely come back

Room Tip: Nice sunny balcony. rooms have a lot of natural light

Our airport pick up wasn't too sure where to drop us off so initially we were worried we were being dumped in some small back street. However it soon became apparent we were in the right place and were let into our apartment, no. 2......although all look the same in the block. The apartment is just like it appears in the website.....spacious and tastefully decorated. There is also a good sized balcony and the roof terrace (shared with the other apartments) is a real delight. We stayed a week and the apartment was cleaned on several occasions. The location is great, easy walking distance to all the main sites, shops and restaurants. The old town is clean, felt very safe and people were so friendly. A small shop is located immediately opposite which served our needs although we only had breakfast in the apartment. Some tea, coffee, bread, fruit and milk were in the kitchen when we arrived. The apartments are great value, equivalent to a hotel room rate but with so much more space and flexibility.

We were very impressed with the apartment the moment we entered. Very bright and lively, a small convenience store right across, which made our stay very comfortable. We were in constant touch with the manager if we ever needed anything. We stayed in Deluxe 1 which had a small private garden and thats what awed us when we first entered, looking at the greenery. The walk to the main street (Divan yolu, about 5 mins) is a bit of an exercise but the whole of Istanbul is like that, so one has to get used to walking uphill. Its very conveniently located to most of the attractions in old sultanahmet. The apartment was kept very clean and Burhan(staff) had provided us with few necessities(milk, fruits, cheese, etc) the first day we came in.
And the BEST part about the apartment was its roof top terrace. We loved spending our late nights there. Luckily the weather was really nice, so it gave us an opportunity to enjoy the weather. Yuksel(owner/manager) has paid attention to very small details when it comes to the guests staying in the apartments. We never found any need to contact anyone for anything because everything one could need was readily available either in the apartment or the store across.
We loved the city and the apartment just made it even better and enjoyable for us. We would definitely love to come back to this city and Istanbul Suite Home will be our first choice.
