We stayed at the Modern Sultan Hotel for four nights and were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel is close to all of the must-see attractions, such as, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia to name a few. The room was clean, comfortable and well priced. The breakfast was healthy, lots of veggies, and feta cheese, with eggs, olives, bread and French toast (and lots of other goodies). The staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. We would most definitely stay at the hotel again and would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 401 and did not find it noisy. We slept well.

Everything was great about this place. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when arranging transport for me and my girlfriend on 2 separate occasions. The rooms were very nice and well maintained. Location was awesome also! There was a conveniently located cafe just around the corner if you need coffee in the morning. The breakfast provided was also very nice. Overall a great stay!

Just came back from a great citytrip in Istanbul. We really could recommend this hotel.
The location is just perfect! The rooms are nice and very clean. The beds could be a little bit softer but that was no problem for the 3 nights. The staff is very friendly and will help you with all your questions. It is also including breakfast which was very nice and fresh! We should say: book this hotel!

I have really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times. Small but a very cosy hotel. Great location. We had a room at top floor with a very nice view, I was actually very glad there was no tv in the rooms...I had a romantic time at the hotel.

Room Tip: Chose the room on top floor, you will have a great view

I booked at the Modern Sultan based on the many positive reviews here on Tripadvisor and was very glad that I did. All the good things you read here are true, the most important thing being the warm and friendly nature of the staff. It was less a hotel stay and more like spending a few days at a family member's house. Everyone was very helpful, eager to suggest things to see or places to eat, and was always asking how our stay was going.

My friend and I stayed here four nights (Friday to Tuesday) in Room 502. The room was large (three beds - two twins one queen) with windows on both sides facing east and west which allows some fantastic views. You can go to sleep looking at Hagia Sophia every night. The bathroom is large and in good order. Room décor overall is quite nice and everything is well maintained and cleaned.

Wifi access was excellent and consistent, and the daily breakfast was just what we needed every morning before trekking out around Istanbul.

One downside is that the neighbouring hostel bar can be rather noisy until around midnight or 1am on the weekends. It's not terribly loud, but if their windows are open, you can easily hear conversations, etc, as the tables are maybe 15 ft away from the room's windows.

Also, there were many seagulls around the city that would land on the roof and walk about, squawk, etc, at all hours of the day. There were numerous times I woke up to the sound of some agitated gulls on our roof...

A few random tips for people coming here:

1. On our way in from the airport we decided to cab, which was a base fee of 50 lira. The driver got a little lost and we just asked him to drop us off close to the hotel as all the one ways and randomly blocked roads made it difficult for a car to get to the hotel. It was maybe 40 minutes travel time.

Heading back to the airport, we used the tram and metro. Two tokens required (6 lira) and it took around an hour to get to the airport.

2. The hotel is very close to all the major sites in Sultanahmet - Hagia Sophia, Hagia Irene, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, etc. Cab to Church of the Chora was 50 lira.

Room Tip: 502 is a mixed bag. Top of the building with an amazing view, but the hostel bar next door can be n...
