We stayed here for 1 night on a stopover to break up the long trip from Central Asia to the US. I'll start with the positive: The rooms are decent, clean and spacious. We liked the location so much (in a posh suburb with lots of cafes, and a promenade along the marina) that we didn't even venture into the center of Istanbul. We were quite pleased with the place--until we tried to go to sleep, and smelled the heavy cigarette smoke from a nearby room, which seemed to be coming directly through the walls. The other problems came as we checked out in the morning. Before arrival, I had confirmed via email that the van transfer back to the airport was 15TL. The young man at reception confirmed this when we arrived at the hotel. But when we were preparing to leave the next day, suddenly the price became 20TL! The hotel employee (who was also the van driver) said that 15TL was the price for a regular taxi, not the hotel van, which, if true, had not been made clear at all. He also charged me for a local phone call that his colleague, a very nice young woman, had told me the evening before was free of charge. After this kind of "customer service," I don't think I would stay here again.
