“Winter days in Berce Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

We arrived March 1st in the snow, but were very glad to stay in this small hotel which has a good atmosphere and a wonderful breakfast. It was nice and cosy and warm. Very friendly and helpful staff, whilst the location is excellent (around the corner from the Blue Mosque and close to the Sea of Marmara.

A great find from tripadvisor. My partner and I stayed for a week and had a great visit. Mehmet and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and varied, including some great Turkish food. This hotel certainly punches above its weight in value for money, with great rooms at budget prices. Keep up the good work! Only downsides were: patchy hot water in the shower and a lack of alarm clock in the room.

I stayed at the Berce Hotel for my first trip to Istanbul - a week in February - maybe not the best month for weather, there was a mixture of snow, rain and sunshine, but the Berce was very warm and comfortable and a friendly haven to come back to after a day's sightseeing and walking round the city. The rooms are very clean and have everything you might need. It is quiet, calm and well organised. The breakfast is wonderful - home-made, organic and fresh every morning - such delights as borek, omelettes of various types, a range of breads and cakes, fresh salad, eggs and the most wonderful yoghourt I have ever tasted amongst other things! All prepared by some lovely ladies. On reception are two of the nicest men you would want to meet - Mehmet and Serkan (one for day and one for night). They are so helpful and courteous and always ready to assist in any way. I will certainly return here if they have any availability after all these glowing reports! Who needs stars when you get such genuine hospitality.

Everything positive written about this hotel is indeed true. Having visited with my wife and friends for a long weekend, I would not hesitate to return another time to The Berce.

Rooms were clean and tidy, and breakfast was great (traditional Turkish - lovely selection). Mehmet and his colleague (did not catch his name) are professional and friendly, and unfailingly willing to help with our queries. The staff are also very friendly, and I just wish that all hotels could have customer service of this level.

Not suited if you have walking challenges as there is no lift, but apart from that this is an ideal option for a non-expensive hotel in the Sultanhamet area of Istanbul.

I never award five stars for anything, as perfection does not exist - but for the money - this comes close.

Room Tip: No lift so ask for a room on the lower floors if stairs are a problem for you.

What a lovely hotel. friends of ours booked this hotel for a long weekend so we wern't sure what t expect but we were not disappointed. The Staff were so friendly. The area is great as a base to explore the old town, you are literally five minutes walk from the Blue Mosque.
We visited in February and the temperature outside was very cold but the rooms were always nice and warm as is the welcome as you walk into reception.
We had a lovely time in Istanbul and would not hesitate to revisit the Berce Hotel.
If i had to criticise anything i would have liked a kettle in the room so i could make apple tea but that's just being picky!

berce hotel is located in the quieter area of sultanahmet, close to the blue mosque, hippodrome and aya sophia. the hotel is small, but rooms were of adequate size. Our room had 3 small balconies from which we could see the marmara sea :) Mehmet was very helpful in giving directions. The breakfast on the room terrace was nice as well.

We have just returned from a short break in Istanbul and chose this hotel based on various Trip Advisor reports and I am glad we did as the hotel is perfect in many respects. We arrived in the early hours (due to snow in Istanbul!) and the taxi driver struggeld to find the hotel which is located in a side street that, at first, appears to be in the middle of nowhere. However, when you get your bearings you will realise it's only a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and therefore a great base to explore Istanbul. The bedrooms are immaculate and well appointed and the breakfast, served daily on the rooftop terrace, is more than adequate. In addition to the facilities and location, where this hotel really scores is the personal service provided by Mehmet and his team. Nothing was to much trouble for anyone and when we returned to the hotel after day out on Friday, we found a bottle of wine and fruit basket had been delivered to our room as Mehment had realised from our registration card that it was my birthday! - That's what I call service and sadly it's seen all too infrequently these days. All in all a lovely little hotel and we would certainly return
