“Good hotel for a short stay”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Were due to stay at the Sapphire Hotel (sister hotel) but were moved here at the last moment for the first 3 nights of our tour. Rooms were clean and comfortable with efficient air conditioning and tea and coffee facilities. Only downside was the demolition site outside the window - luckily we were out every day. Staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The restaurant was bright and cheerful, but some of upholstered chairs were stained and could do with a good clean. Took our evening meal at the Sapphire - we were very late on the first night so did not expect anything wonderful, but on our last night it was even worse (think school dinners!) Take my advice and eat at the Pasazade restaurant opposite where we went on the 2nd night - you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on a bed & breakfast basis on a recent visit to Turkey. The hotel was located near to the main railway station and popular visitor sites. The staff were very present, helpful and accommodating. There are many superb Restraurant within walking distance and it was a most enjoyable stay and if ever we return to Turkey we will definitely stay their again.

This hotel is amazing and we were so pleased we chose it. Such a warm welcome from Mehmet despite arriving at 5.30am. Our very comfortable room had a sunny balcony overlooking the street as well as mini-bar, TV, hairdryer, safe etc. Free Wi-Fi and use of computers for internet etc. The variety of fruit, breads, pastries, meat, cheese, eggs and vegetable dishes at the breakfast buffet was spectacular..and delicious. Roberto, at reception, was extremely helpful and advised/arranged tours and our visit to the Turkish Bath. The hotel is in Sirkeci and within easy walking distance of Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar and Galata Bridge. Its a vibrant district with plenty of cafes and shops and its very safe. I highly recommend the Maywood Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room at the front.

Situated in the old city area, within easy walking distance to all the major sites.
The staff are friendly and more than willing to assist. The rooms are small, but is all you need in real terms. The breakfast caters for all needs and is well presented. There are many eating establishments all very close. I would recommend

A stay at Maywood Hotel won't strain your budget but will offer you a comfortable and convenient place to stay, very close to all the sights of Sultanahmet and also to the tram and the ferry port.

We were given a warm welcome by Roberto, who provided a map and pointed out places we might want to visit and eat. Reception staff Selçuk and Yakup were also very helpful and answered any questions we had. Indeed, all of the staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed for one night, then were away in Cappadocia, then went back to the Maywood for a further two nights. They were able to store some luggage for us while we were away, which meant that we could travel light. Both rooms we had were front rooms with a little balcony and were very pleasant and well resourced, with tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, safe deposit box, dressing gown and slippers, minibar, etc. We were very comfortable there, and there were no noise problems. Beds were firm but comfortable, although pillows were a bit lumpy.

Breakfast had something for everybody - it really was a very good spread.

The Maywood offers very good value for money, and we would thoroughly recommend it and would definitely stay there again if we visit Istanbul.

One of the best hotels that I've stayed visited all year! The staff was terrific, letting me check in right after I landed from an overnight flight rather than waiting until the afternoon, and offering me a seat at the fresh, terrific buffet to boot! Great location, clean rooms - couldn't ask for more.

Room Tip: There's some construction going on behind the hotel, so if you want to sleep late, it might be a...

The location is perfect if you wish to stay near the main touristic attactions. The staff is friendly, but we had a difficult time solving a misunderstanding regarding the printing of our passes. The rooms are confortable. The breakfast looks delicious, but on a Monday morning we signalled one of the waiters that one of the meals was moldy. I presume it was an accident. It only happened once the whole time we were there.
