This hotel has friendly and help ful staff but not much more in its favour. You'll find hotels at same quality and price closer to the old town attractions. The breakfast buffet is uninspiring but is served on a roof terrace with nice view. The rooms are small but clean. Although it is quite close to the tram line and the Basar it is a steep slope to climbe to get there.

This hotel is clean, the beds are very confortable, the bathroom is well equiped and the water gets at the desired temperature quickly! The place of kumkapi where many restaurants with musician can be a little loud, depending on the position of your room, but it didn't disturb my sleep. The breakfast takes place on the roof, wich provides a very nice view of the see and part of the old istanbul. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The location of the hotel is convenient, as it is 5-10 minutes from the tram stop Beyazit (grand bazaar). However, it is a steep road, unsuitable for disabled people in my opinion.

Hotel Amber is an old mansion, reconfigured in to a modern hetel,
in the heart of old Istanbul. All the staff was very helpful, extremely
friendly that made our stay a real pleasure. We stayed for 7 nights,
with no issues at all. Be sure to use the rooftop platform for breakfasts
and evening drinks - a great view of the ocean and the old city.

All the major sights and the rail line in easy walking distance.

This is not a "high end" luxury spot - the breakfast buffet is adequate
no fancy lobby, etc. For our needs as busy tourists it was perfect, but
not the highest end (hence 4 stars..)

Room Tip: Rooms are fine but be prepared for random early morning Islam prayers and street noise. We were on...

Nice hotel near a quarter with many fish restaurants. When you 'climb' to Sultanachmed or Grand Bazaar (steep road) you cross the quarter with many small shoe factories where shoes are sold at the road side.
Hotel has a nice penthouse with roof terrace with a view over the Sea of Marmara and a part of the town. Breakfast is served there. Wifi is good, water in mini bar is free.
Mind the last step of the stairs.

description to travel from airport with metro is incorrect.
hotel is walking distance from main tram line, but up hill.
roof terrace is perfect, with nice view over the sea.
standard room is small, bathroom adequate.
diners with terraces are just a block away.

We stayed for 4 days early March. The staff was very helpful in all ways especially the young lady from Lithuania who was the guest relations manager. The hotel reminded us of a typical European pensione. Small, clean room but adequate and reasonably priced. Free internet was a must for us and worked very well. The location is in the old portion of the city and we walked to all the major sights. It would be a bit hard to find if you don't take a taxi to get there. The location immerses you in the working street life of the city and we enjoyed safely walking the back streets through the textile, shoe and purse districts. We would definitely go there again. Take the hotel business card with you when you go out so if you get lost you can get help getting back.
Rooftop breakfast was included and good.

We had a great stay in Istanbul, and loved the area of the Hotel Amber! It is a bit off the main tourist-route, but still within short walking distance to the main attractions. The hotel has nice and clean rooms, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. This is great value for money. The only reason why I can't give the hotel top rating is the breakfast. Nice and fresh bread, but the rest of the variety was a little dissapointing.
