Friendly and kind staff, rooms are big and clean. Breakfast is outstanding and the hotel is located in the middle of the city. I don't think you will find a better hotel in Istanbul on this price range.

Room Tip: Good service, friendly staff and nice location.

Stayed for 3 nights. Old hotel but very good service. Very convenient location. Lots of shops nearby. Blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazar at walking distance. Good breakfast. The view from the top floor is priceless.

This was an old hotel but with a superior location. Within easy reach of all the major attractions of the Old City including the Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, etc.

The interiors looked rather dated although well maintained. Lobby had massage chair though these were often in use so we could not use them during the stay.

Rooms were also looking a little tired but spaces functional. Only complaint were on the pillows which were hard and we experienced a bad neck ache after checking out which was a little unfortunate. Bathroom was a little small but otherwise alright with good a shower with hot water. WiFi connection was alright even to catch up on a bit of work.

Buffet breakfast was on the top floor which had a magnificent view of the city. Hard to beat a view like that. Choice was Turkish style, also with a good selection of Western dishes. Beverage quality was excellent, the orange juice was wonderful and we could not be more pleased.

Overall, this hotel has its location as its main selling point. Could do with a renovation to modernise the look.

I definitely got what I wanted from the stay. Get the Bosphorus suite - it has a huge balcony with sweeping views, also a pretty big room. The morning sun is fierce but afternoons and evenings are perfect. I could see the blue mosque while lying in bed. The terrace of the restaurant is just upstairs from the suites and is an alternative, especially if it rains as it’s covered, unlike the suite balcony. The breakfasts were a lavish spread of breads, dips, pastries and vegetables but they just did coffee and tea at other times (can still be great for a sunset coffee).

Location is great for the main sights in Sultanahmet and the call to prayer wasn’t very loud when the doors are shut. A couple of trips to Galata/Taksim suggests that staying there might put you in a funkier part of town but there is a tram right outside Rast that will get you to other parts of town quickly. Turn right out of the hotel and go down that street to find a few less-touristy restaurants, but decent restaurants are everywhere (the touristy places mostly just cost more or have aggressive touts). Hotel staff are good. Laundry is available on a per-piece basis but cheaper than most countries.

It’s not perfect. Some parts are old and worn and the bathroom, although functional, is small and poorly-designed, including a big step to get into the shower. The wifi cuts in and out but is fast when it’s working (Turkey’s heavy censorship blocks many innocuous sites and seems to slow the internet down, so a VPN will give you much better performance but make sure to set the DNS servers manually - Turkey’s DNS servers may be the reason for the slowness). I still had a great week’s stay.

But then there was the airport shuttle. If the times coincide with your flight (it did for me), it should be very convenient for 25 lira/7 euro. However, they forgot to book me in despite giving me a receipt. When they remembered to book, the shuttle was already full, and they didn't tell me this until right when I was supposed to leave. They then called a specific taxi driver and assured me that the fare would be under 50 lira. The driver took 15 minutes to arrive (as many other taxis sailed past), said that his meter was broken and demanded 60 lira. Then he drove like a maniac. Then at the airport, the meter conveniently turned on and showed about 63 lira. He got 56.50 as that was all I had left as I was only expecting to have to pay 25 for the shuttle. I might have given the hotel 5 stars if it weren't for this unpleasant end to the stay. Consider taking the train - convenient and cheap but gets crowded so is a hassle with luggage.

Admittedly a little faded, this hotel is within a few hundred meters of the rail-car transit stop, close to the tourist shops, and maybe 10 minutes from the blue Mosque. This means that Sophia Hagia is also 12-15 minutes away. Therefore, as you can see, this is a hotel really very close and convenient to the primary tourist locations you'll want to visit when in Istanbul. Within very easy walking distance you find more than enough by way of options for lunch and dinner.

The rooms are more than adequate, bath/shower is easily accessible and there is an elevator for easy access. Breakfast is on the top floor with exquisite view of the Blue Mosque. Picture postcard perfect. The breakfast food options are healthy, adequate in amount, and the juices/coffee will keep you fired up through until lunchtime. I know I will return!
