Before booking our trip we had never heard of Agora. My husband and I were tempted to book the Hilton as we knew there would be a certain standard and we have also stayed in the Hilton chain before. Upon reading reviews for Agora my gut feeling was to go with this Hotel...I am so glad I followed that feeling! What lacks in other hotels was discovered in this; a personal touch. From the word go the hotel staff were amazing, upon arrival we were given drinks and Isa was extremely helpful. We were then greeted by Kadir who greeted us with a smile and was lovely throughout the whole stay. The breakfast staff were lovely and so friendly; we were there with our 5 month old son and they would hold him whilst we had breakfast and showed him so much love! Whenever we left the hotel or came back from our travels, the staff would rush to help us with the baby stroller. The room was lovely and cleaned every day, we asked for spare hangers and towels and they were given straight away. I asked Kadir for two bottles of water for my son's milk and they were provided every day. The view from the terrace was breathtaking! As soon as the lift doors opened, we were blown away by the view! The hotel is within a 5 minute walk of the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia, it is on a small, quiet side street and there are plenty of shops nearby. Upon leaving I was given a gift from the hotel; a beautiful scarf. I was overwhelmed by the gift as no other hotel has ever given us a gift. Kadir and Isa came out to say good bye to us. I would highly recommend this hotel for the personal touches which made it so special and for the staff who were so affectionate! Istanbul is a beautiful place with beautiful people and after a long, tiring day of sight seeing, Agora is the place to be. If we ever go back to Istanbul, Agora Life will be the place to stay.

Great position in the middle of Istanbul. I walked EVERYWHERE! Very clean and modern. Was welcomed with a drink and a map with a quick brief on all the local sights. The breakfast buffet was served in the basement seeing that it was winter. Definitely make your way up to the roof for amazing views of Istanbul. I can without a doubt suggest this hotel to anyone!

The staff couldn't have been more pleasant. Mr. Kadir was so helpful with maps, directions and arranging a guide for us. It rained one day and they had umbrellas ready to hand us as we went out.

The location was perfect--a short walk to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Cistern, Grand Bazaar, and tram to Taksim Square in the New District. The hotel isn't far from the Spice Market and ferry pier. Each day began with coffee in bed, looking out at the Sea of Marmara. How glorious that was. We enjoyed a variety of breakfast choices and could have taken breakfast trays to the terrace, but we forgot that was an option until the flight home. The hotel has an elevator, which was important, since I have a hip problem.

Agora Life is on a quiet street, but only a minute's walk to restaurants and shops. I enjoyed hearing the call to prayer, but was concerned it might wake me up. It never did. I was delighted with our choice of hotels. I would definitely stay there again and will recommend it to friends.

The only negative was the bed was rather hard for me. The cleaning person forgot to leave two bathcloths on two days. The latter wasn't a big deal as I had read beforehand that European hotels don't always provide bathcloths and was grateful Agora Life did on other days.

The hotel was definitely one reason our stay in Istanbul was so lovely.

We stayed out in Beyaglu one night, then made the really good move of staying at Agora Life in Seraglio Point for the rest of the time in Istanbul. It's near everything!
Cons: The room is a touch small, but plenty of room for two people. There were ants on our complimentary fruit. The call to prayer woke me up one night at 4:30AM. There's no desktop computer with wifi. No pool or bar or anything.
Pros: Everything else. Staff was really helpful with plans, phone calls, directions, advice. They were really friendly and kind. The place looks modern, clean, and well taken care of. The rooftop terrace was perfect for having breakfast with a direct view of the Haghia Sofya. There is a good elevator. Breakfast was typical for Turkey, delicious!
Overall perfect for a stay in a very interesting city.

A word describes this boutique hotel in the heart of the old city in Istanbul: correct. The staff are pleasant, dedicated and friendly, all of them. The hotel has only 16 rooms, so service is indeed personal. Rooms rather small, which is to expect, extensive supply of bathroom amenities. Nice views from the rooms to either the Bosphorus or Aya Sophia. Good breakfast in the basement restaurant, however do take your tray to the rooftop terrace and enjoy the superb views from there. Nice experience, nice hosts , good location. Main attractions of Sultanahmet are within walking distance. Thanks to all for making our stay so special.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room, views of the river and the aya sofia are great.

We switched from a cheaper more distant hotel at the last minute and are incredibly glad we did. We stayed for 8 nights, which certainly gave us a different feel than a casual night or two. The hotel was our base for our first-ever trip to Istanbul (and Turkey) (and we arrived with no itinerary, tour or guide). We couldn't believe the room when we walked in - Hagia Sofia large as life through one window, Golden Horn and Galata Tower through the other. The location was fantastic - we walked everywhere, stopped back easily to rest or drop off purchases, went out again when we felt like it. We used the included breakfast every day, and used the rooftop-terrace (very comfortable, incredible views) frequently for cold beer in the afternoon, wine at night after dinner, or just taking a deep breath. Staff were all incredibly helpful, responsive and friendly. I joined Trip Advisor for the first time just to be able to post this review, recommend this hotel and give these good people the credit they deserve.

great roof terrace with stunning view, very helpful staff and perfect location. As there is no separate second door between rooms and stairways, one should be an "early bird" (which is anyway recommended in Istanbul :) ).

Room Tip: nice view and separate balcony in suite Bosphorus in topmost floor
