“Fantastic Value & Great Service.”
Reviewed 3 June 2011

Kenan (the Manager) greeted us warmly, explained things to do, and what to avoid, and had a real concern for our welfare. We loved the Hamam suite, everything was spic and span, the prices reasonable, free VIP trip to and from the Airport. (We were two couples, and stayed 10 days) Side trips were easily defined and arranged. and the location if perfect for visiting Istanbul's sights, not far from the Tram Line and the Ferries. We plan to return and use the Seraglio as a base for further trips around Turkey. By the way, the breakfast buffet was superb, with fresh fruit, pastries, eggs any way you want, etc. Cagri, Memet, and others were equally helpful.

Room Tip: Hamam rooms (two out of 14) were the way to go.

We selected Hotel Seraglio after reading Trip Advisor reviews and we weren't disappointed. The location is perfect---close to the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia, but on a side street so there is little traffic at night. The only thing that woke us was the call to prayer---very exotic and moving.
The staff couldn't be better. My friend's birthday occured during our visit. The staff planned a surprise cake and celebration for her. We were overwhelmed. The staff also directed us to good restaurants and tours. They couldn't have been nicer.
Rooms were very, very clean and comfortable. There was a good shower (always a concern) and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was the same each day, but the quality of the food was good.
All-in-all, I wouldn't stay anywhere else if and when I return to Istanbul.
One tip--If you book directly through the hotel, the hotel will arrange airport pick up and drop off at no extra charge, much appreciated after a long trip from the States.

Room Tip: The hamam rooms have lovely Ottoman-style baths.

This hotel wasn’t my first choice but after reading the reviews I was confident in changing to SERAGLIO. I prefer a small boutique hotel and this one didn’t let us down for the six nights we were there.
I booked the airport transfer, which after a 12 hour flight, was appreciated to get off the plane and walk straight to the car without any delays.
Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted with a small stylish lobby that was warm and cozy. Our room was spacious, with a comfy bed with luxurious linen and the room had lots of windows for natural light and air. The bathroom was also roomy and clean.
The staff at the hotel were polite and friendly and happy to help with any questions. We had an evening meal here and again we were not disappointed, so I can highly recommend it. If I return to Istanbul, The SERAGLIO will be my first hotel of choice, as we couldn’t fault it.

We enjoyed our stay at Seraglio...the staff were very attentive and the location was great for exploring historic Istanbul. That said, the room (while a nice size) was nothing special and there was no sound barrier from the street. If you book in advance, you can find a nicer option (Amira, Senatus, etc) for the same price. I wouldn't recommend against the hotel, but we'll probably try a different option on our next visit.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for being valued guest at Hotel Seraglio. Another thanks for putting a comment on Tripadvisor. As Hotel Seraglio team we have been trying to give the best service for the comfort of all our guests.

We are sorry for Hotel Seraglio did not live up to all your expectations since you could not find anything special during your stay.

The room that you had stayed is one of our Superior room. Our Superior rooms which are only two of them, have unique private Turkish baths (Hamam) in the room. Actually we are located in a street which is extremely silent. The two of the other hotels you had suggested are also nice hotels. But one of them is located in a street with lots of bars open till late hours... The location of the others are not as close as our Hotel; to the main points such as; Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace, Tram Station. Still it is about what you expect.

Thank you once again for choosing Hotel Seraglio hope to see you back in future….

Best Regards
Manager of the Hotel Seraglio

We spent four nights in this lovely hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had the twin room overlooking the quiet street. The room was small, but perfectly adequate, great shower, comfortable beds. We loved the complimentary afternoon tea which was most welcome after a day sight seeing. Also recommend the breakfast. All and all we throughly enjoyed our stay at seraglio and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet 4 star hotel.

Very friendly and informative staff. Excellent location close to the major sights of Istanbul.
Would recommend this if you want personal service, a quite and small hotel, well located. Would not suit the 5 star devotees but much better than that because it is small and well located.
Our room was small but totally adequate.

The staff are courteous and very helpful. On my arrival, I was given a warm welcome and the manager gave me a map of Istanbul with recommendation of places to visit and eat. The hotel rooms are clean and the shower is nice. The only critical comment I have is the bed. Perhaps I am used to a standard of very high quality beds, but I found my sleep less than satisfactory because the beds are not comfortable. If they upgrade their beds, they would be a near perfect hotel to stay in Sultanahmet. Nevertheless, I had a very good stay in Istanbul because of Seraglio.
