“Easy to see why Amira is number one in Istanbul”
Reviewed 6 June 2011

From the pick up at the airport to the drop off 5 days later this was a truly memorable stay. We booked a Deluxe Room for 5 nights. On arrival we were treated to a drink in the bar and a briefing of all the sights to see, restaurants, local transport systems (including how to ensure you weren't over charged for taxis) etc. By the time we'd finished and shown to our rooms, our luggage had been deposited in the room.
The room had a small balcony overlooking quie a busy road junction but the double glazing was superb cutting out all noise. Indeed part of our morning ritual was to use the balcony to watch the local driving protocols as 5 small roads converged with no traffic controls.
Throughout the stay all the staff were extremely helpful.
Breakfast was a very good mix of local and international dishes - just right for preparing for a full day sight seeing - suggest you pay the 2TL supplement for freshly squeezed orange juice.
Finally the roof terrace was a great place to relax after a full day of sight seeing. The mix of late afternoon / evening sunshine, view of the Sea of Marmara and the ships queuing to enter the Bosphorus, and the chilled drinks delivered by a very attentive waiter was a perfect interlude before changing for dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants within walking distance.

It's not very often that a hotel delivers such a welcome and we wondered if it would live up the excellent reviews that we had read. I am pleased to say that it did and it proved to be the perfect location to enjoy the old city and see the main attractions. This little hotel really know how to deliver customer service in a relaxed and friendly way. From the outset, we were given helpful advice from Arthur about how to make the most of our three day stay and because of this we managed to see a lot and we enjoyed some very good local food as a results of his restaurant recommendations.
The Amira itself was spotless and the room was comfortable and well organised with a great shower. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet which had a wide variety of foods and the fresh fruits, cheeses, breads and pastries were particularly good. The afternoon tea with freshly made cake was also a treat after a busy day sightseeing, but what was even better was a drink on the roof top terrace in the early evening watching and hearing the sights and sounds of the old city and beyond. Mr Aziz, the waiter on the terrace was particularly good and the service he provided was friendly and respectful at all times.
If you are thinking about visiting Istanbul and want to stay somewhere where you are really welcomed and looked after, this is the place for you. It's the perfect location to spend a few days finding out about this fascinating city.

We decided to book here on the basis of other reviews on TripAdvisor. This relatively small hotel is ideally situated within easy walking distance - but not in the midst of - the major attractions in Sultanahmet. The rooms are spotless, the service warm and genuinely friendly and the breakfast offerings are great.

Myself and wife stayed for 7 nights in a suite. The room was very large with a balcony. The bathroom was large and the shower great. The value for this type of room I thought was very good. The roof lounge area had a view of the Bosphorous and could also see a slight view of the Blue Mosque. The staff were all outstanding, extremely helpful with restaurant, metro and general tips on getting around -the most helpful hotel staff I have come across in all my travel years. ATM in the hotel is very useful. Breakfast is good. Location of the hotel is very convenient to all the major sites, shopping and restaurants. T-cell the local sim provider (iphone4) is just around the corner although the hotel provides free wifi in the rooms which was great for the iPad.

Hotel Amira is situated in the old part of Istanbul right near to the main sights of the Blue Mosque, Aga Sofya and Tokpaki Palace. It is also about a 10min walk to the tram stop which can take you to Dolmbache Palace.
The hotel is a little haven of luxury with very friendly and helpful staff.
On arrival you will be given a map of the city and taken up to the gorgeous roof terrace to be shown the main points of interest.
The rooms are a good size with the option of a jacuzzi bath (highly recommended after a long day sightseeing).
All rooms have towelling robes, slippers and hairdryers, with tea and coffee making facilities. Felt very 5 star!
We ordered room service on arrival, and had a really tasty mixed grill for £12, not bad for room service.
The breakfast is delicious with a good variety to choose from, the yoghurt and fresh fruit was my favourite.
All in all Hotel Amira is a lovely hotel with friendly staff and for the price I think you get an exceptional deal.
When I return to this fantastic city I will only stay in Hotel Amira.

Stayed here for 4 day break and wasn't disappointed. Intimate atmosphere with excellent staff; they couldn't have been more charming and helpful. Room elegantly furnished, very comfortable bed and superb shower. The roof terrace has a great view and the basement sauna and spa are available for your exclusive use. Superb location for the main sites in the old city with a plethora of great places to eat for all budgets within 15 minutes walk. If you're minded to get up in time(!), breakfast is very good and tea on the terrace at 5pm is a great way to end a day's sightseeing. Surrounding streets are busy and noisy but this applies to the entire area; with double glazing and air conditioning this is not a problem. Overall, highly recommended and the perfect base and an oasis of calm for a visit to this hectic but wonderful city.
