Elegant boutique hotel in great location near Blue Mosque. What really sets this hotel apart though is the fantastic service. From reservation process to advance tour planning to restaurant recommendations and directions on the fly, the front desk staff could not have been more competent, helpful and friendly.

Amira is a great example of small hotel that saves you from the impersonality and over-expense of large 5 stars. And unlike many smaller/less expensive hotels, it doesn't trim down the basics but rather offers you everything you need in an intimate environment.

It's very reasonably priced; the staff is helpful and available for information and advice; the menu is not extensive but the lunch/dinner food is as good as you'll find in many of the restaurants around (breakfast eggs not so great but other things available); the rooms are sizable and clean and the beds very comfortable; the hotel in general is clean, and there is none of that terribly perfume smell that so many hotels have these days; there is a lovely rooftop area to sit and watch the water or have a drink or meal; the location is great, close to major sights and the waterfront.

the only problem is that most or many of the rooms face the street, and it can be a noisy corner. I wore ear plugs so didn't hear anything at night, and the windows keep out much of the noise. But it's not a calm/out of the way area.

We stayed at the Amira hotel towards the end of our vacation. We loved this hotel. We loved the location as it was within walking distance to the Blue Mosque, to a bazaar and a number of cute restaurants. The rooms itself were very nice as pictured on their website. The staff was extremely helpful. The front desk person gave us advice on the taxi situation within Istanbul as my mom cannot walk around as well. He gave us his personal mobile number should we run into trouble which thankfully we did not. Next time I am in Istanbul I am staying here again.

This was our first trip to Istanbul and the staff at the Amira Hotel made us feel like we were at home. Before our arrival in Istanbul the communication from the hotel with regards to our accomodation was very prompt and efficient.
We cannot praise the staff at the Hotel enough - nothing was any problem for them, from helping with restaurant reservations, sightseeing options, phoning airlines, the list goes on. Our room was nice and spacious and very clean and modern. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the gorgeous girl that served us each morning was very friendly and efficient. There is also a computer in the breakfast room that can be used by guests. There is even an ATM in the hotel.
Most evenings we enjoyed a drink at the roof top bar ,which had the most amazing views, before heading out to one of the many rooftop restaurants nearby.
The Amira is situated in Sultanahmet (the old city) and it is the perfect location for first time visitors as it is close to all the major sights.
I cannot recommend this hotel and it's staff highly enough. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to this beautiful city of Istanbul.

I've never written a review for anything before but Hotel Amira inspired me. From my first phone call to my checkout I had nothing but positive experiences. The entire staff could not possibly be friendlier or more helpful. The hotel is well located with a great view from their sadly underused gorgeous roof deck where you can eat dinner or have a drink, skype on with their wifi and watch the sunset on the water. The hotel is clean, comfortable and tasteful and the rooms actually feel like they have character and lots of modern amenities including rain showers and jacuzzi tubs, ipod docks and flat screens.
The fitness center and spa are perfect and just maybe a little bit small but well suited to the size of the hotel. The breakfasts which are included are heaven......fresh fruits, yogurrts, breads, meats, eggs, coffee......It is a true luxury boutique hotel that is incredibly well priced.

For a first time trip to Istanbul you want to be in the old city, near to the Blue Mosque, the Ayasofia, The Topkapi Palace and the shopping strip. The Amira is clean and comfortable and its location is fantastic - just 10 minutes walk from the major attractions.
The staff are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and speak good English. The rooftop terrace is a perfect way to enjoy an afternoon drink and snack.
The rooms on the high floors are worth the extra as they are spacious and some have good views.
There is a good buffet breakfast and internet facilities for those who need them.
A couple of extra tips - the hamam at the Ayasofia has been newly refurbished and is wonderful
For delicious kebabs go to Hamdi near the port, but be prepared to eat a lot
I would recommend a day trip to the Princes Islands - go early and get in the queue for a horse-drawn buggy ride around the island

Room Tip: Choose a room on a high floor - the basement rooms are said to be dark

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Amira for a week recently and it met all the (high) expectations I had from the many positive reviews on Trip Adviser. The staff members at this small, personal hotel are superlative: professionally attentive and going to great lengths to ensure your stay with them is an enjoyable and successful one. The superior room we had (#304) was lovely and light, with views from it's little balcony down the street to the ocean and in the other direction along the street. The bed was superb, the room was quiet and very comfortable.
I was very pleased to find no evidence of the 'disappointing breakfast buffet and lack of choice at breakfast' referred to by some previous reviewers. In fact, we found the (inclusively priced) breakfast generous in the extreme: with an extensive range of cold and hot beverages and foods - certainly enough to cater for all tastes and appetites: including a choice of fruit juices, cereals, breads, cakes and patisseries, fresh fruit platter, fresh fruit salad, natural and fruit yoghurts, charcuterie, cheeses, olives, nuts, dried figs, dates and apricots, and a variety of prepared hot foods including scrambled and boiled eggs, sausages etc. The extremely pleasant and professional man in charge of breakfast who unobtrusively, efficiently ensured that our used dishes were promptly removed and the buffet was always freshly replenished: remembered after the first morning that I preferred tea in a teapot so had one freshly filled with my choice of tea whenever possible ready for me when I came to breakfast.
The roof top restaurant at the Amira is a must for an evening drink to enjoy the view from a peaceful haven. We also dined there and although the menu is very limited (same menu as room service) - it was very fairly priced and great as a quiet and relaxing alternative to going out. The superb position of the Amira meant we walked to all the major sights, and Arthur and his great crew gave us all the advice we needed with where to go and when. We heartily recommend this hotel, in particular for anyone who is visiting Istanbul for the first time and/or who is travelling alone and wants a hotel in which they feel secure.

Room Tip: The superior room we had (#304) was lovely and light, with views in two directions and a balcony.
