“Friendly, efficient and complete: a wonderful little hotel!”
Reviewed 24 April 2012

It would be hard to praise the Amira Hotel too highly, it was THAT good! From the warm reception upon arrival (with a cup of tea, cake and good advice), to the umbrellas provided on rainy days - from the most complete breakfast buffet we've ever seen (ranging all the way from ultra-healthy to mega-calory-bomb) to the kindness and consideration of ALL staff members - from the ideal situation in the heart of the old city (close to Blue Mosque, Sokulu Mosque and Hagia Sofia) to the splendid view of the Bosphorous from the rooftop terrace: the Amira is excellently situated, well-equipped, friendly, clean, flexible and everything works well ... including the Mac put at guests disposal in the restaurant. We were enchanted. Thanks to one and all.

Plus: Location is a few blocks from the Blue Mosque and other tourist sites, great location for visitors. The hotel is only a couple years old, so all the facilities are fresh new. Staff is courteous and well-trained. Rooms are not huge, but are not closets, they are certainly satisfactory and very well cleaned. Compliments to the cleaning staff who put the room in excellent condition. Breakfast is included and is quite nice in a pleasant dining room. One of the best things about the location is that it is just 100 meters from the highway that connects to the airport, so taxi drivers can find it easily and the ride to and from the airport is 15 minutes shorter than other nearby hotels.
Minus: Lighting in the bathroom is abysmal. A couple of low wattage bulbs cast creepy shadows and make it impossible to shave or put on makeup. Hint to hotel: if the light is too dim to read, it's too dim. Also, street sounds creep up to the streetside rooms, it's not terribly noisy but might distract light sleepers.
Overall it's a great hotel, more than competitive with other properties in the same neighborhood and price range.

Room Tip: Streetside can get a bit noisy.

What a pleasure to stay in this hotel. A perfect way to start our holiday. We only stayed one night and cant wait to go back. The hotel is clean, quirky and so refreshing. We have stay in many hotels around the world and this is a little cracker. The staff are so friendly and helpful, they cant do enough for you. On arrival we were offered afternoon tea and a glass of lovely wine while Tina explained the sites to see and what restaurants to visit......very helpful. The room was beautiful, with lovely soaps, shower gels and much more. A must to anyone considering Istanbul for a holiday!

This pretty boutique hotel is a gem! The restaurant is small but the breakfast was amazing with lots of fruits, cold meats, yogurts cheeses, bread pastries and a hot section. The free afternoon tea was a lovely surprise! The rood terrace is a perfect place to relax with great views. Rooms were a good size and nice bathrooms and fast free internet. The most fantastic thing about this hotel is the staff. Everyone was professional, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Great location walking distance to sea front, blue mosque and lots of restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for a great stay I would definitively stay again.

This hotel surpassed our expectations. All the staff we met were of the highest standard. Very friendly and helpful from the moment we entered the hotel with complimentary afternoon tea and an orientation chat by 'Arthur' until they waved us off. (Other hotels could learn a great deal from their professionalism) The room was large and clean and the breakfast offered a wide choice. Ideally situated for the major sights, a 3 hour trip on the Bosphorus arranged by the hotel is well worth condidering if you have spent many hours pounding the streets. Would I recommend this hotel to friends and family-you bet

Upon arrival we were met by friendly receptionist! We checked in and another receptionist took us to the breakfast room. We were given complimentary tea/coffee and as we checked in a 4pm they were serving complimentary cakes and biscuits for all guests - we were able to indulge!
We were then given an informative half hour of where to go, what to see, how to travel, things to avoid, restaurant recommendations. - A lovely personal touch by the hotel!
Room was on the ground floor - at night due to annoying Russian DRUNK people there was a lot of noise!! However the decor was modern, very comfy bed and bathroom was clean.
Breakfast was fresh, enjoyable and laid out nicely.

The location of the hotel is great walking distance to sultanahmet tram, the blue mosque. Going on the tram you can visit other places. Avoid the market behind the blue mosque as it is very over priced!
Do go to the market Grand Bazar, Spice Market, do walk to see the Galata Tower - beautiful view right at the top!
MUST GO TO ALBURA KATHISMA restaurant - SUPERB FOOD!

Room Tip: Do not get a room on the ground floor although it is a larger room the noise levels can escalate!

We stayed at the hotel Amira for four nights. I was very impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. On arrival we were greeted with delicious tea and cakes, and were given a run down on where all the main sights were situated, good places to eat, good shopping etc..

Our room was large, clean and well equipped; after an excellent night's sleep we awoke to a delicious breakfast in the dining room.

The hotel is perfectly situated within 5 minutes walk of the blue mosque, and 5 minutes to the major tramline. It has a roof terrace with terrific views of the Sea of Mamara.

We had booked a guide, through the hotel in advance, for our first day (this turned out to be a good move, as with a guide you can jump the queues for many of the sights).

I would recommend the Hotel Amira as an excellent place to stay.
