“Great boutique hotel”
Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

Loved everything about this boutique hotel in the old city~staff, accommodations, personal service. We stayed in Rm 403 with a balcony facing the street. We felt the hustle bustle of the city. We enjoyed the terrace on the roof top for view, cocktails and light bites. The staff was extremely helpful in selecting sights to see and shopping hints. We stayed there July 3 to July 7, 2014 visiting from Los Angeles

This boutique hotel in the heart of the sultanahmet area is a gem! The customer focussed service is exemplary. My husband and I stayed here in the first week of July for 6 nights. The first 5 nights were on the 4th floor in a standard double room which was very tastefully appointed. We returned after visiting Cappadocia for a final night and were upgraded to a suite, also on the 4th floor. We loved everything about this hotel - from the spacious stylish terrace with views over the water to the delicious breakfast and high tea in the late afternoon to the consistently smiling faces and friendly service it offered.

Room Tip: We loved our rooms on the 4th floor since they were quiet and close to the terrace. There is a lift...

We enjoyed staying at the Amira. Staff was very friendly and willing to serve. We had a room with a large French door that acted as a window. Room was well appointed and rate included breakfast with a good variety of options. Tea and coffee making products were in our room. Free afternoon tea with great treats was from 4-6. Roof top terrace provides views of the sea and city, offering a selection of drinks and snacks for purchase. Free WiFi was an added amenity. Great stay!

Having just stayed at a highly recommended hotel in Athens which was underwhelming I was in contrast overwhelmed by this boutique hotel.
Nothing but superlatives.
Excellent location to the major sites but that is just to begin with. Service superlative at all levels. Exception was housekeeping very good but not excellent.
Upon arrival and after check -in, all guests were invited to the roof-top restaurant and over something to drink guests were individually introduced to the local sites in Istanbul and all questions were answered with genuine warmth. Three staff were concurrently helping each of us on our arrival.
Having experienced Wifi only in the lobby of our Athens Hotel and the atrocious Wifi quality of our cruise ship it was so nice to enjoy very good Wifi in all public areas of the hotel, including our room. The hotel also provided us with a mobile hotspot gadget that allowed us to access the hotel Wifi wherever we were in Istanbul. This is a new complimentary service and for me this was a god send.
The breakfast buffet was the best I have had in a hotel for a long time. Only bettered by Austrian breakfasts in years gone by. Great coffee, wonderful fruits, cherries, peaches, melons, pears. olives yogurt, I could go on. If this were not enough, management introduced a complimentary tea service in the late afternoon. I might add I was not that impressed with the food in Istanbul, having been to a few recommended restaurants. Suffice it to say I felt the hotel breakfast was superior because of the fresh ingredients.
Unlike Athens I did not have to fight for the limited inventory of adapters, they had plenty to spare. Given the better fit of their adaptors I asked whether they could be purchased, reception staff said I was free to keep the one I was lent.
We were visiting during the World Cup and we were able to watch the earlier event in the breakfast area and for the later event at 11.00pm we were able to watch al fresco at the rooftop restaurant. Management really did everything to make our stay pleasant. The staff to guest ratio is very favourable.
I was surprised at the poor quality of English spoken and poor service at the various ticket offices to the many sites. Istanbul has recently introduced a museum pass that allows a visitor to visit the top attractions over a few days with a one time purchase and it works out to be cheaper than buying the individual passes. Also only queue one time.
Hope this helps. There is a treadmill in the fitness room but given the amount of walking in Istanbul the machines are in a pristine state. The standard of cleanness is of the highest order.

This hotel was perfect from the moment we arrived. The friendly staff took our bags to our room while we were taken up to the breathtaking rooftop terrace with sea views and views of the city including the blue mosque. We were offered a beverage whilst there and they showed us a map with all the best places to go in Istanbul. The recommendations all paid off (especially the restaurants!) the rooms are big and luxurious, perfect after a big day of exploring. The complimentary breakfast and tea is truly amazing and full of delicious Turkish food! With the friendly staff, great location and amenities this was by far the best hotel we have stayed in yet! Highly recommended.

The hotel is extremely well located and the prices are affordable. The staff is very friendly and was always ready to help with indications. Specially nice, the terrace and the view. There is free wifi but sometimes the connection is really slow.

A small hotel well placed for all the famous sights of the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul - a few minutes walk up hill to the Blue Mosque, the Haghia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. There are many restaurants and tourist type shops in the area. Open topped tour buses run from the square behind the Blue Mosque which is a lovely please to sit near the fountains.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay. The hotel itself is bright and clean with a fabulous roof terrace. We spent quite a bit of time up there with a drink (just pick up the phone and a very efficient and friendly waiter will deliver your order in no time) looking out at the wonderful views of the water (working boats and cruise ships) and at the minarets of the Blue Mosque. You even get a complimentary welcome drink of your choice. Drinks including cocktails are reasonably priced.

The staff are excellent - we were welcomed with a cooling glass of water whilst we checked in. Our daughter and her boyfriend checked in early the next morning and they were offered a complimentary breakfast. The Reception staff were really helpful - they sorted out a taxi for us to a restaurant a few miles away and briefed the driver about where we wanted to go. The hotel stocks tokens for the tram which we took to Taksim. These are added to your bill. We used them once as we soon got the hang of the tram system which is extremely clean, efficient and easy to use. The token machines take bank notes and give change.

Breakfast was excellent - plenty of choice of hot and cold food. Latte and cappuccino are made on request. Afternoon tea, savoury snacks and cakes are served in the same area from 4 pm.

The rooms are very clean and well furnished. Our bathroom was very small but this is typical for city hotels and our daughter did have a bigger bathroom. There are deluxe rooms available. We heard very little noise given the busy road outside and the proximity to several mosques with the call to prayer. A complimentary bottle of water is left each day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - there is something about the Amira which just feels "right". We were joined for drinks by several members of our family who were staying in a nearby hotel ( we were in Istanbul for a wedding) and they were made to feel very welcome. It was a little cool on the rooftop terrace one evening and we were all brought wraps which was really welcome.

There is a travel/tour agency a few yards from the hotel which charges 5 euro per person for hotel transfers which we found very efficient. I would also suggest avoiding the bazaar between the hotel and the Blue Mosque. It is very pricey and we found some of the shop owners to be quite rude if you tried to bargain at all. The Grand Bazaar is only about 20 minutes walk and has a huge choice of gifts etc
