Hotel is centrally located around 300 metres on a pebbled street sloping downward from the main thoroughfare in Sultanahmet (Diwan Yolu Cadessi). We were here with my wife in late september, and the mild chilly weather in the evening made walking a real joy.

Pluses: Small establishment, so checkin-checkout is a simple manual process (5mins max).
Place is walking distance from grand mosque, hagia sofia (step out- turn right and turn right again on the main street) and 10mins stroll to the grand bazaar (turn left on the main street).
Nice bedding, and clean toilet.
Views: From one window (could see the sea of marmara) and from the other a small mosque (just opp the hotel). We had the cheapest room on the 2nd floor, sure views are better from the more expensive options a floor up. At 90 euros was the higher rated properties in TA.

-Vs: As another observer wrote, the room is a bit small, difficult placing your luggage and moving around. I hurt my knee in the night, banging into a small table which really looks out of place in the small room.
Breakfast is the same every day, continental fare with toast and the regulars and overlooks the reception area.

Room Tip: Central Hotel, perhaps you can drop a mail to see what options are available based on your needs. Th...

My wife and myself stayed here for 4 days during march 2012. 3 of these days were at dream suite and the last day in the sulthanhamet suite. When we first walked into the dream suite, we were taken aback by the view. You have a view of the blue mosque and the hagia sophia on one side and a view of the bhosphorus over a few buildings on the other side. The room is slightly bigger than an average hotel room. Negatives of the dream suite are as follows.
- Surprisingly, they did not have enough curtains to cover all the windows.
- One of the curtain rails were broken.
- room was very dimly lit.
- The worst part of the room however was the bathroom. It was small and ridiculously dim lit. You could hardly look at your face in the mirror.

On the last day of our stay here we moved to the sultanmhet suite. In comparison the dream suite, the room was just perfect. Spacious with pretty much the same view. The bathroom was much bigger and had a jacuzzi. The dream suite in comparison had a small shower cabinet into which a six footer like me would have trouble fitting into. What really was a surprise was that the hotel was selling the dream suite suite at a much higher rate that the sulthanmhet suite. It is ridiculous to pay more for a compromise in basic comfort (read - a decent bathroom).

Another annoying issue was the motion sensor lighting that was installed. We usually had to take a few nervous steps in complete darkness before the lights switched on.

To talk about the positives,
- The hotel is at a lovely location, walking distance to all the major attractions.
- Most of the staff in the hotel are really helpful and very accomodating. Jehangir at the reception and the lady who looks over breakfast helped us out a lot.
- They have a very neat and decent spread for breakfast.

On the whole, we had a nice time at Lausos and if were visiting the hotel again, I would defenitely stay clear of the Dream suite. Staying in a better room for lesser money sure makes a lot of sense to me.

Cheers
Abhinand

Spent a week in the hotel with my sister, where we enjoyed great hospitality from an extremely helpful and friendly staff. Perfect location, main sights, many shops, restaurants in walking distance. Safe and lively neighborhood.

The hotel was super clean, the staff was the best among all 4 and 5 star hotels I've ever stayed in "especially jenkiz" that guy was super friendly and helpful and all other staff were like family to us :) The location is the best in all the old city of Istanbul near the tram station n right in front of the blue mosque and hajia Sofia ,Mado cafe z few steps away and zia restaurant and other very tasteful restaurants r very close by and it's only a walking distance from the grand bazzar and Aksaray shopping square. Very beautifully decorated rooms with great jaccuzi in the colorful bathroom. The food z tasty as well. Everything about this hotel is just wonderful. Definitely staying at Lausos Hotel Istanbul and nowhere else next time and many more times.
P.S:
i wish toilets were warmer.

Room Tip: suits are reasonably spacious. standard rooms are tiny though very comfortable.

Service and staff were excellent. We could easily communicate in English. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable.
