“Excellent hotel and service the place to stay if you visit Istanbul”
Reviewed 8 May 2012

Fantastic hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful and very clean rooms. It is lying in the center within walking distance of all major places of interest: Blue mosque, Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, Spice Bazaar and the grand bazaar.

The roof top restaurant with great views of Istanbul was great and certainly not to expensive. Also the bistro at the hotel was very good and very nice staff!!

I can recommend this hotel to anyone!!

We spent six days in Istanbul. We had a very pleasant stay, due to the great services of the friendly staff. No matter what we asked, almost everything was possible. The breakfast was huge, fresh and offered a great choice of both local and global delicacies. The hotel is within walking distance of the most famous sights. If you want to go slightly further, the tramstation is very closeby. The room we slept in was huge and included many facilities. We would recommend this hotel to anyone; in fact, we already did.

All rooms are named after a sultan and have a portrait of the sultan above the bed and a scroll explaining about the sultan. Bathrooms also have 'sultanese' decoration on the outside. The toileteries supplied are excellent quality, very useful when travelling hand luggage only.

Breakfast was plentiful with a slightly different selection each day; there was a chef cooking eggs according to your choice. The reception / lounge area had a selection of dried fuits, nuts and fresh fruit or cakes and savoury bites available all day.

Staff were very helpful and welcoming.

What is most important about this hotel is that all staff are genuinely nice. I have been in some hotels where the staff have been told to say hello to everybody and they do it because that is what is expected. Here the staff are genuinely interested in you and what you have to say! We were here on a family holiday (age ranged from 18 to 80!) and the staff had the time to talk to each of us. The barman (Baris) and the waiter (Murat) were particular family favourites! The hotel itself is beautifully clean and kept to a high standard. It is not tackily decorated - just enough to make to feel like you are in a turkish hotel without roughing it. If something was wrong, it would be fixed within minutes. I think my parents had problems with heating and within half an hour they had fixed the heating and for good measure lent them a portable heater! All the places you want to see are within a 25 minute walk at the most (if you want to drag yourself away from the hotel that is!). Dinner in the hotel itself and in it's Olive restaurant has something for everyone ranging from home made baklava along with other traditional turkish dishes to steak and mash. Of course there are local restaurants which are cheaper but the price difference is the price you pay for service with a smile and a chat!

Excellent location, wonderful, pleasant, helpful staff, charming rooms with an exotic touch. Very pleased with our week long stay at the Sultania. My one caution: prices booked with expedia were unaccountably higher than those available through the hotel website. But highly recommended in every way, including the lovely hammam (turkish bath) in the fitness center.

Room Tip: The entire hotel is recently renovated, so you can't go wrong.
