We spent a week in this great hotel and this beautiful city. Our Turkish friends who live in Istanbul suggested it, based on value and location. Rooms were sleek, clean, and spacious. We loved sleeping with the windows open so that we could hear the hustle & bustle of the city, as well as wake up to the beautiful call to prayer each morning. Being close to Taksim Square was great for nightlife, although we found that we spent a lot of time away from Taksim (perhaps because we were with locals) and traffic was absolutely horrible every day. But apparently this is the Istanbul way. We were on vacation, so we had all the time in the world. I can't imagine the daily frustration for commuters. I definitely recommend staying on the Europe side of the city, in the heart of all of the sights. The Asia side of the city is mostly residential. The Miapera Hotel provides the perfect mix of a cosmopolitan hotel in the center of the ancient history that Istanbul offers.
