We booked our staying in Moss Suites in Istanbul for 1 night. The price was 90 euro, which was really overpriced for the hotel where we found ourselves in.
The most serious problem is the location of the hotel. Yes, it is 5 minutes walking from Taksim Square, but it is in a dark and dirty road with strange people walking around. At night we were afraid to return. It is very hard to find the place by taxi because the road of the hotel is small and at night we felt it is dangerous.
The hotel itself it is located near Taksim Square but not on Taksim Square. And a street can make the difference. It is on the borders with a poor and low developped area where no modern people are around. The building seems to be old, even though renovated but many of the new items seemed to us very fake. For example the walls etc. A very important issue is that we didn't see fire exit. The houses around are old, and in winter they get heated with coal and there is serious risk of fire. The hotel had only one stair and it was the normal stair. Concerning the staff, the girl at the reception was polite and she spoke good English. But the rest of the people seemed to us indifferent. We were given a room at the last floor, but the elevator couldn't go until that floor and we had to carry 4 suitcases by ourselves. The room was small and the bed uncomfortable. However there were 2 televisions, the bathroom worked properly with hot water and the room was clean. I don't think i would stay there for more than 1 night. There are good intentions about the hotel, but there is something seriously missing.
