“Great Location”
Reviewed 22 June 2013

We stayed here twice, once at the beginning of our trip and the at the end. The first time we were down the road in the new purple building, and the second in the original. Both rooms were great. Brilliant location right behind the Blue Mosque. The staff were all fabulous and we felt like part of the family by the time we left. Trams are quite close too.

Recently my husband and I stayed at the hotel Djem for about 5 nights. We found this quaint hotel a perfect place to stay, we could walk to most of the major attractions. The area was safe, and there was heaps of places to go out for a bite to eat in the evenings. The staff was also friendly and helpfull. Our room were spotless, and the bathroom was quite sufficient, with a modern large shower. We would not hesitate to stay ther again!! Oh... Just a word of warning, you might find the prayer calls over the loud speaker coming from the mosque a little close for comfort, but in my opinion, it really wouldn't matter where you stayed you are going to hear it several times a day loudly anyway... If you are like me and make the most of every minute of the day, you are going to be very tired when you finally hit the sheets at night anyhow!! Perhaps you will sleep through it like I did!!!!

Our 5 days in Istanbul were fantastic but made all the more enjoyable because we stayed at this Hotel. The manager Ufuk was wonderful and his hotel staff were always on hand to help us during our stay. Situated in a quaint little street behind SultanAhmet, Hotel Djem was a delight to behold! Our room was good, the breakfasts were lovely and my girlfriend and i felt completely at home and we have some wonderful memories. I would certainly recommend this Hotel, ive been telling all my friends since ive been back, 5 days is nowhere near enough in Istanbul, there is so much to see and if we go back again this is where we would stay. The location of the Djem was super. Close to all the attractions and the tram line. The rooms were very clean and welcoming with plenty of linens and soaps, etc. The neighborhood is safe and friendly. We even made friends with one of the guys who works at the rug store across the street. The hotel has free wifi which was very helpful.

If you want a quiet, cozy, fantastic location to stay in Istanbul thus hotel is for you. Right behind the blue mosque but in a very silent road, this is a little old style hotel I absolutely loved. You'll find Wonderful old carpets everywhere together with nice furniture. Rooms are super clean and the different guys at the receptions are extremely nice and they'll help you in every way. Excellent fresh breakfast.

Excellently located, very good breakfast and nice people that can answer all the questions and problems. The rooms are very nicely done and the hotel is constructed in an old house (I stayed in the newer house) just in the back of the blue mosque. For the location it is really a great place tu be. Walking distance to everywhere around.

Djem Hotel with the Blue Mosque Imam as neighbour, is the place to start all Istanbul exploring! It has all world famous attractions in walking distance. And this I mean within a distance of 15min! The guy at the reception was very helpful and well spoken English young man. We had a nice comfortable room with a clean spacious bathroom and good shower. The sunset ezan (prayer) of our neighbour is a perfect way to start the day for the early birds or a nice way to half sleepy getting conscious you are in a Muslim part of the world and then to turn in bed and sleep a couple of hours more. Breakfast possible till eleven (yes, we had to hurry) and is all you need and not more. Although the coffee could be stronger, bud that is then our preference... They give you a map with all possible things to do and that are in fact all you need to visit. The map is sponsored by a hamam, which is probably the best you can get related to the price you pay, bud this I will review separately. So the 65€ pp/night we played was worth it.

Room Tip: Get a room perhaps where no other room's bathroom is right next to your bed room
