“Really nice hotel in the heart of modern Istanbul”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2012

Cool and modern Hotel with very kind English-speaking Staff and nice rooms. The Bathrooms are huge. The Breakfast is not the Waldorf-Astoria-Style but you will have a nice mixture of local food and international breakfast standards.

We checked in on Friday and left Sunday morning. We were on the top floor in a room with a balcony and lovely view. The problem was that there is a nightclub also on the top floor of building next door that plays extremely loud music. We could not sleep with the windows closed, the AC going, and earplugs in.The room literally vibrated with the bass. I asked to be moved to a quieter room and was told that they are all the same. On Sunday morning we had to get up at 3:30 am to catch our flight. The music was still going at full blast. I would not recommend this hotel for a weekend stay.

The room was fine, breakfast was good, the staff was nice and the location was excellent. The only problem was the nightclub next door. If I could have changed hotels I would have.

Room Tip: Don't expect a quiet room on a Friday or Saturday night.

Thank you for choosing to stay our hotel and taking time to write a review on your experience in our hotel on tripadvisor.

I would like to explain your complaint about noise. The noise is not coming from the hotel. The music was coming from the neighborhood. This is an external factor that the hotel next door has a rooftop terrace bar. This Terrace Bar is only open during summer months. They have also guests in the same building. All neighborhood complained about noise. We had immediate meeting with supervisors of the bar. They will be more careful about the voice. We are in the lively city center and most of our guests like this location.
We have quite rooms in hotel. I think there was a misunderstanding between you and the front office staff. We could provide quite room in your further accamodation.

We look forward to welcome you here again

Having read some reviews we decided to book and did not regret. Our room on the 6th floor was fine, a little small, but did not bother us. It was clean, the bathroom is nice with a good rain shower and the bed was comfy. It's centrally located by a metro station, near many restaurants, nice funky bars and shops. The breakfast is really sufficient. Do not know why people need more than this nice buffet. Also the staff in the restaurant was kind and helpful. Reception staff could be more serviceminded we guess. Did not even ask if we liked our stay when checking out or when we passed the reception coming in or out. They could be a little more interested in the guests but it's not a big thing for us. On friday night you need earplugs because of the surrounding bars and music, but all the other nights we slept fine! We would certainly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Some rooms on the backside of the hotel do not have a view.

When in Istanbul I don’t like staying in Sultanahmet for two reasons. The call of prayer wakes me up too early in the morning and there’s nearly no nightlife there. Hotel Au Pera is perfectly located in the Asmalimescit area, near Istiklal (shopping), metro (2 mins), funicular and nightlife. Its also only 50 metres from the Pera Palace hotel who every taxi driver knows, hence making the use of taxi very easy. The reception was polite and helpful. The room was large, but the interior design was a mix of styles and I didn’t like it that much. Some items appeared modern while others were rather dated and out of place. The bed was perfect however and I slept well every night. The best part of the room was undoubtly the excellent bathroom with a large shower that had great waterpressure. Breakfast was ok. I might have a better breakfast for the prize. A lot of reviews have made remarks about loud music at night. We didn’t notice that at all. Maybe it only affects the rooms on the higher floors?

I have stayed in the hotel three times already and I love it! Location is great. The hotel is an old house completely restructured. Rooms are comfortable and very well furnished. Bathrooms have amazing showers!!! Staff is friendly and tries to be helpful. A small comment on my last stay in January is that the room I stayed in had not been cleaned for a while and it was starting to show some signs of aging. It is not really a complaint but an advice to keep up the quality of the hotel which is a very good find and has great value for money.

I just returned from 5 nights at Hotel Au Pera in Istanbul. I would not hesitate to stay there again or to recommend it to friends. It was very comfortable and centrally located.

Pros:
- Location- Very close to Istikal Ave. Many, many restaurants and bars close by. Good shopping on Istikal close by as well.
- Nice breakfast- good basic choices. eggs, meat, fruit, veggies, coffee, etc.
- Free wifi- I had a few issues connecting to the network. but for the most part if worked just great.
- Clean, comfortable rooms- Comfy bed, HOT shower and great water pressure.
- Friendly staff- they were nice and accommodating. they made a few good recommendations on restaurants and were able to arrange a ride to the airport.

Cons:
-Location- You are very close to the metro. But to get to lightrail, you either need to walk about 15 minutes or take the funicular. The 15 minute walk isn't bad on the way down the hill, but back up the hill takes some time.
- Noise- My last night there was a Friday night. That was the only night that I heard any loud music, but it wasn't that bad. All other day/nights were extremely quiet. I put in my ear plugs and had no problem with it.

overall, I felt like this was a very good value for my money. Nice clean hotel, good location, good breakfast, free wifi, friendly staff. I would stay here again.
