“Amazing hollidays!”
Reviewed 20 February 2014 via mobile

Senatus Hotel was a pleasant surprise, located in the heart of the historical local attractions in the middle of sultanamet street, near the blue mosque. Accommodations are very welcoming, well decorated & tidy. The all staff was amazing making this holidays in Saint Valentine's Day even more romantic. Special thanks for Gorkem & Ayse from front desk always available & very helpful with all our questions, needs and requests. Good breakfast & welcoming gifts, punctual pick up transfers from the airport, great housekeeping services keeping the room impeccable at any time & good sauna. It is close to many restaurants but just across the street special attention to Magnaura where the food is really good & the staff amazingly nice.
Istambul was great and Senatus Hotel only made it better. Highly recommended!

I must say we've absolutely enjoyed our trip to Istanbul and Senatus hotel was one of the reasons for that. It is located close to all the sights you would definitely visit (Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi palace), if you want to make a Bosporus trip you will find options nearby. The location itself is very nice with lots of cafes and restaurants, several of which are worth visiting. Room was very nice, spacious and clean, with wooden floor, superb bathroom and a sofa. Room has been cleaned every day. Breakfast was nice, with large cheese selection. Worth mentioning that it's great value for money. What can I say - if I was to go to Istanbul again I would definitely stay at Senatus again!

Room Tip: Standard double room

Location: Absolutely amazing. Its just a few minutes away from the blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica cistern, topkapi palace, grand bazaar and the metro station. The hotel is located in a lane with small outdoor cafes & restaurants, souvenir shops.

Room: The room had everything: queen size bed, a nice shower, locker, bath robes, candles, travel accessories kit, a desk, a mini refrigerator. Its amazing how so many things have been put in such a tiny room. The only thing missing in the room was a good view. All we could see when we opened the window was somebody else's balcony.

Breakfast: It was ordinary but sufficient. It was available from 8 30 A.M to 10 30 A.M. One day we reached at 10, the croissants and the egg was over and it wasn't refilled.

Staff: The staff was friendly, specially Ayse.

On the whole, it was a good experience.

Room Tip: Request them for a room with a view.

After staying in several different places - some too expensive for what you got; some with lots of heavy brocade and old velvet furniture and drapes - this hotel was a breathe of fresh air. Simple clean lines. Great shower. Comfortable big bed with fluffy pillows and comforter. Refrigerator, hot water pot, nice robes, thick towels, and candles in the room - nice touch.

Hotel is right on the street and be warned that if you get a room that's at the end of the hall, the next door restaurants will keep you awake until 2 or 3 AM! Location makes it easy to walk to trains, parks, mosques, shops.

The first visit left us the best impressions so we knew what to expect the second time. Senatus is the ideal place to stay as it's centrally located in a walking distance of well known attractions and local restaurants. It's stylish, modern, clean place with friendly staff. Breakfast is not its strong spot as it lacks variety, but this doesn't mean that it's not enough.

I stayed in the Senatus alone for a week and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel, given how inexpensive it was (got a last-minute deal).

The rooms are well appointed, clean, tasteful and comfortable. Staff are friendly, helpful and available 24hrs (though when I tried to checkout at 4am the receptionist was sleeping and initially seemed a bit grumpy at having been woken up!). The bed was just right for my tastes - not too hard or soft.

Breakfast is served in the hotel's restaurant, and has something for most tastes, from traditional Turkish delicacies (if you can stomach them at that time in the morning!) to cereal, pastries and boiled eggs. The restaurant itself was good and well-priced, and I ate there most nights.

The only significant negative points were the thin walls (through which you could hear every noise), but having read reviews of other hotels in the area this seems like a common problem and is more than compensated for by the overall quality of the hotel and convenient location; and the wifi didn't work very well from my room on my laptop (though it was a little better on my phone) - probably due to very poor signal strength.

I will certainly be returning next time I visit Istanbul. One week isn't enough to see this amazing city!

Super central, clean and comfy with lovely helpful staff. Rooms are small but very quiet, especially for the middle of sultanahmet. Easy walk to tram stops and the Haggia Sophia and blue mosque - we loved out stay here.
