“GOOD HOTEL!!!!!!!!”
Reviewed 7 October 2010

I'm Just came back from Istanbul and I stayed to the hypnos hotel 3 nightsand it was good, very clean!!!
I'm Hotel manager in Paris and I recommend you to stay there.
The location is very good , not far by walk distance to Blue mosquée, Top Kapi museum.
So I'll go back for my next stay.
Thanks a lot to the hotel team and also to Cenk (The manager)

this is an hotel open for 4 months now and has a new and appealing look. As a" boutique hotel" do not expect lounges or meeting rooms. Everything is fairly petite. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a room on the top floor (Anatole) which was fine with a magnificent balcony view of the Hagia Sofia. Other rooms all have balconies. Sizewise basic rooms appear small so upgrading is recommended. The hotel location is ideal and many sights can be accessed on foot. Although the hotel is situated in a major thoroughfare the noise level was acceptable and tended to disappear during the night so sleeping with open balcony doors was fine. The muezzin calls at 5.30 a.m. which adds to the exotic touch of Istanbul. Our bath room was minute but adequate and newly decorated and the shower very good and roomy. Breakfast was included and quite adequate although repetitive - served very pleasantly. Overall this is a nice hotel with an individual character. When booking through the internet make sure you are given a room with more space. Size details should be clarified properly to avoid disappointment and it appears that various booking agencies may offer details which could be misleading (our booking said room size above 30 sqm which was incorrect) . Due to the ideal location and staff friendliness we would seriously consider this place again for another visit ofIstanbul.

I was in Istanbul with my wife for a long weekend holiday and had booked at this boutique hotel due to a reccommendation from a friend. It was a small hotel with 11 rooms, which all had different concepts. For the first night we stayed at the gypsy room and than for the last two nightd they upgraded us to the room Anatolia, which was fantastic. Don't forget to ask for an upgrade when you arrive, the front desk were helpfull to us. Each room has its own style and they are chiquely decorated, some ultra sleekly modern, some traditional Ottoman Palace style.
The location is almost perfect 5-10 min. to historical attractions and there is a light metro station 100m away which connects to Taksim or Airport. The two downsides were the hotel has limitied parking place, and there is street noise outside so it is better you do not leave your windows open (there is A/C anyway).
The staff was always helpfull and the cafe at the entrance was a great escape during the day (I liked their Steak Paris). I would reccommend this place for couple especially, and if you are planning a touristic trip for St. Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazaar and the old city.

We just returned from a 2+ week vacation down the coast of Turkey with Istanbul as our starting point. My husband and I prefer small boutique style hotels and after an extensive search found the Hotel Hypnos which at the time had no reviews outside of their website. We decided to book based on pictures and when we arrived Onur at the front desk mentioned that he Ottoman Room- all 11 rooms have a different themes, would be our best choice. He was right as this was the room I liked best too. The only room with a slight view (Anatolia) had been booked.
Luckily the "Ottoman" room was EXACTLY as seen on their website and so naturally I was very pleased.
The look of the hotel is gorgeous- period. So much attention to detail. The ground floor doubles for reception and trendy restaurant- Eon. Just beautiful. From the Chandeliers to the tables and designer style chairs. it's visually perfect.
A few items we didn't love: 1) the sheets/pillow cases were very coarse! Can any one say HIGHER thread count? 2) cable tv had 1 English speaking channel. Management should consider its future guests (in most cases) will not be Turkish.
We would have LOVED it if they had robes but were pleased with the complimentary toiletries. nice stuff.
We booked 5 nights and paid upfront- mistake in hindsight. The hotel was basically empty other than maybe two other couples, so when we decided to leave a day early and finish our Turkey stay in Istanbul it created some drama... the Manager said that we could return as long as there was availability.
it was Ramadan additionally they are situated in Sultanahmet/Sirkeci which is the older part of Istanbul although minutes from all the major sites, the trendy area is in Beyoglou which is 10 minutes away on a $1 train ride (railway)... Not a SMART move on his part since it's a brand new hotel and service should be paramount. Plus they could benefit from a positive review.
Breakfasts were included in the rate and they were very simple and enjoyable outside of the pre-packaged bread. Turkish bread is sooooooooooooo delicious so they should have splurged.
The day that we returned to Istanbul after our flight from Anatalia we asked for Chai (tea) and coffee but when we checked out the next morning without having eaten breakfast the hotels Manager informed my husband that we owed them in the neighborhood of $16 US dollars for a can of coke- mini-bar (to be expected) but another $10 for the tea- which was always complimentary with breakfast and the coffee. Needless to say it was not SMART especially that it's customary in Turkey to offer your guest tea/coffee. This left a reallllllllllllllllllly bad taste in our mouths.
MY advise? 1) invest in softer sheets 2) have robes 3) better cable tv 4) don't be so frugal and provide fresh bread for God's sake tea is just boiled water and some leaves- Don't charge your guests for flavored water!
