Description: Do not miss this delightful restaurant tucked away in a side street off the main tram route through the historical heart of Sultanahmet. In a street full of restaurants, the Dolphin stands out for the exceptional quality and excellent value of its food. Enjoy a wide variety of traditional Turkish dishes served by friendly and efficient staff. Nothing is too much trouble for Erol, the hospitable owner who has an unlimited supply of tricks with which to entertain the lucky diners, many of whom have already made more than one visit – a good recommendation in itself!

It was our 2nd night of our honeymoon. After walking around for a while looking for a place to eat. we stumbled upon Karadeniz and with some persuasion and discount from the owner we decided to have dinner there. what a great decision. Cold beer, vodka with fresh orange juice, great service and great food. I would stongly recomend the Testi Kebab (See photo). We had a great chat to the owner, cant remember what his name was but it means:"Gods gift". We were spoiled with a few shots of Raki as well as turkish tea. The waiter recomended we go to Sha bar afterwards that was a great choice! thanx for a great evening and making us feel special. If i ever return to Istanbul i would definately visit again.

Wandered onto this little side street, across from Sultanahmet Mosque. We had an amazing dinner. The food was wonderful (so good in fact, we returned there when we came back to Istanbul a week later). Had a fascinating conversation with the owner, he even graced us with the most mesmerizing "belly dance", using his hands. Also told us the story of the marble mosiac inside the restaurant. A beautiful love story! Ask him about it!

I have visited this restaurant, and it was a very good experience. It was easy for me to change the menu, so it was perfect for me. In addition I had some very interesting discussions about politics, religion and Turkey with one of the waiters.

After trawling about looking for somewhere to eat (and being physically encouraged into many restaurants on the main street), we ventured a little way up the side street and discovered this charming, authentic restaurant with a good variety of traditional turkish food, open fire, helpful staff and several delicious vegetarian options. There seemed to be far fewer customers as the hard selling of the neighbouring restaurant (which you had to get past in order to find the Karadeniz) had filled their tables which was a real shame as we enjoyed the excellent value food in relative peace and quiet just a few metres further along. The meals were prepared quickly and we were given a free starter - an ideal location for a filling meal or romantic dinner in the heart of Sultanhamet.
