I've booked a single room and got a twin bedroom when I checked in. That was nice to start with.

The room was very small, and basic but the location is great. This hotel is located in a vivid street with many restaurants and shops and also the train station is on walking substance. To ' Taksim' you can walk in 20-30 minutes.

Wifi have been working great since the moment I walked into my room. Very pleased with that.

A great hotel for if u don't want to spend too much time in the hotel and explore the city.

cumbali (pron: joombalah) is in osmanbey, a commercial district around a mile north from taksim. i stayed here for business reasons and for the practicality of being close to osmanbey station. by the way to one of the reviewers below - taksim is not a ten minute walk, it's more like a 20 - 25 minute walk. sisli cevahir shopping mall is however a 10 minute walk in the other direction.

the single room i stayed in on the first floor was reasonably spacious, if a little narrow, but it was clean, had a good shower and well equipped (a/c, kettle, fridge.) breakfast consisted of a plate with the usual turkish fare - olives, cheese, cold meats, a boiled egg and some tomatoes/cucumbers. the service at the hotel is very good and i found most members of staff at the front desk spoke some english. they were friendly and able to help me a great deal.

the wifi signal was a bit weak in the room, but fine in the lobby area. my room (103) was dark, as it faces the back - so if that bothers you, avoid it.

the hotel represents reasonably good value for money, i think, but avoid the first floor rooms if you value your sleep. i was woken every night by noises including doors banging, tables screeching as they were dragged across the lobby floor at all hours, and unfortunately some dude in the room next to me retching his guts out at random points on the first night. perhaps the whole building suffers from this noise problem, i don't know.

if you can avoid the noise, i'd say the place is a good choice especially if you need to use public transport to get around this part of istanbul. if you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs.

Room Tip: not the first floor. try and get one facing the front. you may have to pay more.

The 1st impression was not good because I arrived at night at the hotel and the attendant did not speak English. So, we could not talk anything. He gave us a key without even knowing who we were. The room was not good, so small that or me and my husband walked in the room, or our we put our luggage in the floor. Anybody cleaned our room in our 4 days stay. One only towel to share between me and my husband. We tried to ask one more and they told me they did not have more towels! What a bad surprise. At the 2nd day, no water at the hotel in the morning. So, we could not take a shower. We complained at the Reception and they told me: you (Brazilians, that are at the hotel) take so much shower! Isn´t it good? =\

Request a front facing room if possible, the rear view is a bit dark. It's only a ten minute walk to the shopping area in Taksim. Only drawback is that it is far from the Old CIty and requires a taxi (about $20 USD each way).

Room Tip: Front facing!
